Websites with daily deals for capital cities (Spreets, Scoopon, Ouffer)

Posted By: ntowill, posted 2010/06/11 13:41
I know a couple of these websites have been posted before, but there seems to be new ones cropping up, so I though I'd post the ones I know about and other people can add any more I've missed.

The way they work is every day they have a new offer for most capital cities (some offers may span a few days - particularly over the weekend). They all seem pretty good value if you want them. Have deals like $50 worth of food/drinks for $20, etc).

The websites I know of are:

www.spreets.com.au
www.scoopon.com.au
www.ouffer.com.au

You can sign up to get emails of their latest offers. I've bough a few things and have been happy with them.

Don't know how to add links to the original post, so have added them below:

Spreets
Scoopon
Ouffer

Spreets and Scoupon seem to cover the most states at the moment, but even those are mainly the eastern states.

Spreets Brisbane have a $20 voucher for food/drinks at the Exchange Hotel in the CBD for $5 which is pretty good value. :prop:

How closely do spreets and scoopon resemble each other.
• Donkey2010/06/14 17:06:03
So far I've not seen a lot out of any of these guys that excites me - shame. What have you bought ntowill.
• ntowill2010/06/14 17:42:23
Yea - I noticed they all are very alike in one way or another.

Bought tickets on a dinner cruise for $50 (can't remember what they're worth but over $100). Includes 2.5hr cruise, buffer dinner (including seafood) and unlimited drinks (beer, wine, softdrink, juice).

Also got some $30 worth of food/drinks for $10 at a local fish and chip shop (fancyish place - not your typical shop).

I have purchased through Scoopon. (Melbourne)

I bought 2 lots of vouchers for the Blue Train Cafe at Southbank. $40 for $100 worth of value.

I also bought a similiar voucher for Mezzo Restaurant in the city.

So far I've been happy. A group of us were heading to a concert in the city, so we went to Blue Train Cafe first. The meals were reasonably priced around $18-25 for a main meal. The voucher was for up to 4 people, but we had 5. So I asked if I could use both of my vouchers for our table. The owner said we could, but that he wouldn't recommend it, as apparently $200 is ALOT to spend. Well... we got some entrees for the table, and a main meal each, and then I told the girls to go for broke on the cocktails.... In total we ordered 4 entrees, 5 main meals, 6 cocktails, 1 bourbon and coke, and 1 soft drink. Total bill came to $225. Handed over the vouchers and $25 and walked out happy. All that for a total of $105, cant complain. Meant we had a great pre concert catch up, saved money on alcohol at the gig as they had already had the cocktails, and, because I had purchased the vouchers a few weeks prior I didn't feel like I had blown a heap of money on the night.

The Mezzo Bar voucher we gave to my parents. We purchased them tickets to a show, and thought they could go for dinner first. The prices at Mezzo are higher (ie. not somewhere we would normally consider going at $40 main meals) but for 2 people they will be able to have a main and at least a drink each at a fancier restaurant, which happens to be around the corner from the show they are seeing. They can go in, relax, have dinner, see their show, and only have to pay for parking for the evening. Made for an excellent mothers day present.

Obviously there are plenty of other deals that haven't interested me, but as everyone has different tastes I'd expect that. For the amount of time it takes me to check the page, I think its worth the effort.

They have 2 great deals today, a Yoga pass and a Comedy night in Kings Cross

I have bought a few off Scoopon, restaurants and takeway, with huge savings!
• golfwidow2010/06/17 09:48:10
I have bought a few things off scoopon for my next trip to Sydney and have saved a few $$$ which is great
• voteoften2010/06/20 10:08:36
I have checked all of these out and have bought several from Scoopon for sydney and melb. Does anyone know of one that actually has deals for PERTH???????
• mika2010/06/22 22:22:36
I bought a carwash voucher from scoopon .. was a great deal but not a great wash! Sure they put in less effort than if i'd paid hard cash!
• mika2010/06/22 22:25:39
Forgot to mention allthedeals.com.au ... they list the deals on Scoopon, crowdmass, spreets etc

:D understandable. They're working for half the money.

I've recently been to a couple of restaurants where groupon like vouchers have been used. In at least 2 cases the place was barely worth paying the 50% discounted price. Full price would have been an absolute rip off.
• mika2010/09/07 17:04:29
OfferMe has had a load of restaurant offers for my local area recently (Glebe, NSW).

They've been great, 50% off at one, free main course at another, free wine at another.. and the vouchers themselves are free! Cant argue with that!

And they're listed on All The Deals too! :D
• Kimmy2010/10/07 11:35:02
Try WhatsOnOffer.com.au
They work a bit differently to the other sites, on scoopon etc you have to wait until enough people want it before you can buy it and you are limited to whatever they offer on the day, on WhatsOnOffer.com.au they have any deal you like that can be accessed by 1 or 1000 people there is no limit & you can print, sms share the offer etc anytime you want. I got a spray tan done in my own home by a mobile spray tan lady for only $20.
• fairybelle2010/10/07 13:36:34
I dont know what happened to my post about the site that combines all these daily deals.
Allthedeals.com.au
• lilpretzel2010/10/12 11:08:18
Be very careful when visiting these pages some have affiliated links which mean, your Buckscoop cashback won't track with our merchants ;)

Was browsing and found this site:-

www.peepdeals.com.au

They are launching soon but are already giving away $2,000 cash if you subscribe and refer 4 other friends. They are also saying that they are giving away more prizes.

Good to see that at least one of them are serious and are going to reward the subscribers.

Another daily deals aggregator to keep track of all the group buying sites http://www.buyii.com.au
• voteoften2011/02/27 15:43:06
Some of the vouchers for beauty services are getting VERY hard to book in. Be wary of buying those. Some of these places are actually taking their phones off the hook because they can not cope.
• voteoften2011/02/27 19:06:35
Here's a new one for Perth

http://www.deal2day.com.au/

Today's deal (coffee for $2.50 is crap), but they have had a good one recently. I think they started this month.

The referral credit system here is crap too. You get $10 credit when FIVE friends sign up. What rubbish.
• voteoften2011/02/27 20:40:52
Here's another one that has a perth deal. www.mobadeal.com

It looks like they have only had two deals (in Perth) so far. Both deals are crap discounts and for businesses I just wouldn't be interested in. The expired one is for IPL at only a 72% discount and is out in the sticks. The current one is 40% off some really silly "little" website that just seems to be a ego boost for the owner.
• Rebekah762011/02/28 12:39:34
I've found Cudo and Jump on it deals pretty good so far... I spoke to one retailer when I redeemed a voucher and they expected about 100 vouchers to be sold and the end result was over 1000, so they were overwhelmed to say the least.

I would think if you are unable to redeem the voucher through overbooking and no chance of redeeming, then I would bug the company that sold the deal, although it isn't their responsibility, it will be their reputation if the vouchers aren't redeemable.

What an interesting phenomenon though - how quickly these sites have gone through the roof!
• queenshrew2011/02/28 20:38:18
Another one in Brisbane is:
http://www.grabone.com.au

I have purchased cheap $3 movie tickets, $2 noodle box and $2 for a 3 scoop trampoline ice cream from there. Have used them all, and am very happy with all of them. Esp the trampoline ice cream.. could barely walk after eating 3 scoops!!!!

How did you find them if they haven't launched yet? You wouldn't be associated with them by any chance?
• Donkey2011/03/01 17:02:38
Just checked them out. Still launching and the deal is that if you join and refer 4 friends you then get 'entered into the draw for $2000'. They don't just hand it out to everyone. Not sure how we can 'recommend' them when so far there are no deals???

All a bit suss......

Tastes like spam... smells like spam....

I dont care too much if people self promote in a post like this - so long as its Australian and not dodgy.
• voteoften2011/03/01 19:46:23
These newer sites should do what some of the others have done and offer a credit for signing up. Thst new one in WA makes it look like you get $10 for referring "a freind". After you sign up, it becomes FIVE friends.
• BAM2011/03/03 15:20:41
It gets worse. When the friend signs up it says

"You were refered to this site by a friend. Sign up and make a purchase within 72 hours and they could get credit against their account for future purchases."

Actually just looked under My Credits and its says

"You can earn more if you refer friends to the site and they sign up and make a purchase. Soon you'll be able to use these credits to discount your purchases, making the deals even more outstanding for you."

So not only do they have to purchase, but according to that, at the moment you can't even use your credit against purchases?

It's all very misleading nevertheless..

Hi,

I know that there are plenty out there, but I got emailed the link to this new group buying website. They are about to launch and are offering people the chance to win an iPad 2 if they register. Go to www.SaleTime.com.au.
• sparro2011/06/03 14:51:39
Sure does sound suss! I'm going to pass for now.

I thought you might be interested in this too: http://thedealer.com.au. A bit better than the other aggregates, I think, as you can pick categories. It hasn't launched fully yet I don't think, but hopefully it does what it promises!
• Lozpinch2011/07/13 23:55:19
4 pages deep and no1 has mentioned Deals.com.au - You will find the same sort of deals here as scoopon, jump on it and cudo. It's worth a visit, like the rest of them.
