VISTAPRINT - FREE 2008 Photo Wall Calendar (postage applies) + cash back

Gorgeous looking calendars (well, depending on the photos you choose!).

I've always been pleased by the quality of Vista's printing, and I'm sure pleased with the price of these personalised calendars! Postage runs to about $8 - but additional products tend to take postage costs into another dimension! It's often better value to place a number of separate orders than one large one.

So, these calendars! From the site:

"Photo Wall Calendars
Starting at $26.99 FREE
Make a treasured gift for friends and family

* Customize each month with a different treasured photo
* Add text, even to individual calendar dates
* Choose any starting month/year"

You can even add a coloured grid for 99c - pretty.
Expiry date:2008/01/08

Just thought I'd let people know - you can use the photo you uploaded for free last week (because you did, right? ;)), and the caricatures you made for free can be used to identify birthdays and special days - very cute!

I just went through the trouble of setting this up and the total is Free for the calendar, $8.81 for the postage, AND $7.99 for the photo upload fee. This upload fee appeared even though I used photos that were all previously uploaded. Not happy, not going to order.

Instead of being unhappy about it, why not drop them a line and say you used a "free upload" link a week ago, but it is not appearing for free... One assumes they'll take the charge off. If they don't, get unhappy about it then. At the moment, it only sounds like a glitch.

Hmm I didnt upload last week so have no chance of getting that free, am contemplating whether $7.99 upload fee + $0.99 full colour + $8.80 shipping = approx $19 (-$3.60 cashback less Paypal fees) is worth it

    Thanks for the advice.

I choose to be unhappy about it now. I have invested time in setting up the calendar and choose not to go through the hassle of corresponding with them about it. I have recently sold my companies, so I have experience with consumers and websites on the "other side". We went through ponderous testing to always make sure everything went smoothly. We knew that if consumers were inconvenienced, they would choose not to go through with the transaction. You only have to read about click throughs and what causes people not to buy to understand what a big blunder this is, if it is a blunder and not intentional.

I put my experience up because if I had known that someone else had this issue, I would have choosen not to invest 10 or 15 minutes in the hopes that I could then correspond and see if the charge would be waived. I would prefer to know what problems others have had before going through the process myself.

I know you posted this deal. My unhappiness with the administration by the company has nothing to do with you.

While I agree that these glitches are unprofessional and very annoying, it would take about 2 minutes to send them a quick email - they may choose to draw out the process but they could also possibly resolve the problem within 2 seconds [As Snapfish recently did for me - I was very impressed with their service, and the reply I received was within a few hours of sending my message and on a Saturday!!]

Its good that you posted re your experience though because if I was in your situation but hadnt yet created my calendar I would hold off until I found out Vistaprint's response.

About sending VistaPrint emails, what email address do you have? I've clicked on their link to send them emails before but only ever had an automatic standard reply saying that they "don't correspond via emails at this time" or something to that effect.

I have communicated with VistaPrint in the past and have received this communication:
    Dear Valued VistaPrint Customer:
In order to respond to you as quickly as possible, we are sending this automated response to your recent e-mail. At this time VistaPrint only offers customer service by toll-free telephone. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
We invite you to call us toll-free at 1-800-238-703. Knowledgeable representatives are available to assist you Monday - Friday, from 8 AM to 12 Midnight PM EST.
Thank you for your interest in VistaPrint. We appreciate your business and your patience. We look forward to being of service to you.
    Sincerely,
    Customer Care

They may have email support at this time, but for me it was worth the phone call which resulted in the replacement of an order.

If people choose to get unhappy about something but don't give a company the opportunity to make restitution, they often miss out on receiving not only what they wanted, but additional compensation as well. I personally choose not to get unhappy at an automated shopping cart - online shopping has only been around for what, about 10 years (and popular for a lot less time than that if my memory serves)? It is still new technology, and it is my opinion that consumers are a lot less tolerant than they should be. So, that's just my choice - and I feel pretty good about it.
