Samsung Z230 mobile only $99 at Dick Smiths SAVE $80

This is a really good price for a 3G phone.
You get a 1.3Mp camera, triband, vga, Java MIDP 2.0, MP3⁄AAC⁄AAC+⁄RA player, MSWord⁄Excel⁄PPT⁄PDF viewer

The phone is locked to Optus prepaid but it appears that if you don't activate the pre paid and use other sims, the phone works.

Really nice little phone for the price. Not many left and you will need to go into the store to pick one up. Click through and check out the stores that still have some left

Does anyone on Buckscoop have one of these phones? I am tempted but would like to know a bit more about it before I wander in to Dick Smiths looking all dazed and then they flood me with mobile talk

Does 3G mean that it can operate on Telstra's NextG network?
  • nod2007/08/27 22:55:38
I would say so but I am not a mobile phone expert

    Off the Telstra site:
Our new Next G (850Mhz) network is more than 100 times larger than any other 3G network in Australia, and covers more than 98% of the Australian population.

NO, telstra use the 850Mhz spectrum. The samsung phone is only compatable with the 2100Mhz Spectrum so it will only work as a gsm phone with telstra, NOT NextG

Out of interest diider - do you use much of the 3G side to the phone ?
  • diider2007/08/29 22:10:12
admin, yea i do. i read the news. check movie screenings, weather , where to eat, etc. all the time for $5 a mth... (on 3 that is). I rarely video call though. It's too $$ but yeah but I cant go back to 2g after switching (been on 3 for almost 3 yrs now)..
