HP Photosmart 335 @ Harris Tech $40 + free photobook from Snapfish.

Ummmm - the price of this thing is $240 elsewhere, so the only thing I can think is that its gotta be a mistake or they just want to punch the last ones out.

Its actually not a bad deal. The cost of cartridges for this are more than $40 for the whole new unit. In addition I've just noticed that you should also be able to get yourself a free photobook with this printer - value of $49.

So you get a photobook and new printer for less than the cost of buying new cartridges...... !

  • narut2007/08/21 16:02:56

  • admin2007/08/21 16:12:24
ahhhh - they do to. Thanks narut. I had it in my head that this one was a pick up only unit but its not. That makes it even better.
  • voteoften2007/08/21 16:42:42
I have bought three. Thanks for that. The Osborne Park location is now sold out. Cannington has some - 13 at the time of this post.

    Thanks again!
  • admin2007/08/21 16:52:32
:D - three .... classic. Nice one voteoften. I think we all get a good kick out of it when someone likes something you post up and goes and buys it.
  • lisss2007/08/21 17:25:04
That's a great price I must say. It's not a mistake either - it's in the clearance section and it doesnt seem to be selling at many more places so obviously is an old model. Thanks for the post!!!

Do many people actually have a use for printing out 4x6's on the go? I would have thought they were REALLY expensive to print - but then, I am a cheap skate who heads up to KMart with 200 pics to print every time they have a "15% off storewide" sale... (Harvey Norman would be cheaper during their sales, but it's a much more inconvenient shop to take kids to bla bla bla).
  • geo782007/08/21 19:50:24
sorry i always have something against other ppl's deals, but aparently with this printer you can only print 150 4x6 photos (info from hp's website). for a replacement cartridge you will have to pay $47 to print another 150...that means around 30c per photo...is it worth it? maybe you should buy 3 or more if it comes with a full 14ml cartdrige...at least you save $7 per cartrigde...
  • Brad2007/08/21 19:59:32
    $40 + cashback + flybuys! :w00t:

Exactly! It's cheaper to buy more printers, than actually buy the refills!! :w00t:

Here's a thought. I ordered 4 and they called me to say I could get 4, but I would have to go to Canington. I opted for three from Osborne Park. I asked the guy if he was going to redit my credit card. He said they didn't actually charge it until you rocked up to grab them. I wonder if I will get my cash back?

Did you go through a full online payment voteoften ? If so then I dont see any reason why not, although you may have to submit an enquiry and have us chase them for it.

:o Is it of any value then to put my green hat on and point out that buying cheap "disposable" printers is a really crap thing to do to the planet? :whistling:

Not trying to cause offense, but if it helps people to consider there's more than saving money to think about....

Who do you blame though, the consumer for buying at a price set well below what the printer is worth, or the manufacturer for trying to capture lots of repeat business for the inks at inflated cost once they have trapped you into buying the printer.

Its even cheaper now to buy another laser printer than to buy a set of toners for some models. I think the buck has to stop with the manufacturers and they are the ones who ought to "green up their act".

I do agree with you there ScarletRubies
I do think the world has become too caught up in the disposable. And no offence taken here. I often stop buying things on that basis.
The cost of the cartridges and then all the plastic with those is huge too! Takes a huge shine off the bargain when you have those sorts of ongoing costs and you are just making more land fill :)

And I do think that the manufacturers have to start taking some responsibility as well. We need to have more recycling of these goods so that the impact on the world is less

Oh, I totally agree that manufacturers, industry, government and importers all have a responsibility, but as we have all found at one time or another, we can't MAKE someone else take responsibility. We can encourage them to, even legislate it, but if someone wants to behave irresponsibly, they will defy consequences (just think about people who speed or drink and drive). So, the most important thing we can do as consumers is use a little nous in where we take our money. It is not always easy, because we don't always have all the facts available, but somethings are clearer than others.

SO, if we stop purchasing the blatantly unhelpful and ridiculous, the market for it will decrease and eventually the disposable stuff will no longer be produced in favour of creating quality items which will work well, last for a generation and be suitable to take along to Antiques Roadshow in 300 years.

You know, the episode where they be on the moon broadcasting from the home of the flying pigs.

:) - I'm having to stop myself posting on this thread as I cant seem to find a way to make comment without feeling like a hypocrite.

    Love the picture scarletrubies :)

Well, you know, I wanted to be a green donkey but that was already taken. Story of my life.

WRT consumerism, I don't mean to suggest we should buy things that we need, use or make our lives more comfortable. I like my computer and my mod cons and man, the amount of colourful plastic crap my kids have beggars belief - but if we all think just a little, it does make a difference. At least, I believe it does.
  • nod2007/08/23 21:53:07
We don't need to change everything but all the little things do add up!

And sometimes frugal is an ugly word! :D
  • enthusiast2007/08/23 23:26:41
If you've just bought one of these, please post your thoughts on the print quality etc.

    Thanks!
