I came soooo close to buying one of these the other day. I reckon they're actually quite nice looking drives. Good price sandgroper.

I have been buying 250Gb drives thinking they will be large enough but having got 5 of them now I think my next drive will be one of these too.

The last deal we had for this was $298 - so nice find
The price just keeps on dropping
I guess the 500gb will be considered small some day soon :D

:D - same trap I usually get sucked into. I looked at the 250 gig drives and thought - ahhhh - why spend more on 500gb ....... and then came to my senses and realised that I'd burn 500gig off pretty fast ......and it was more economical. The only thing I would have preferred would have been a 500gig 2.5".

Anyway - western digital - been around since the dinosaurs - make very reliable hard drives - I'd buy one on name any day.

Ashley I have had a look at the link and was going to see about posting it as a deal but the Penta main page will not load properly
    Does the price include GST??
And is there a better page for people to view - somewhere they can actually order it
    :)

We've done a bit of ferreting around on Penta - crap site but cheap prices.

Price is inc GST. They dont show western digital as one of the manufacturers when you go through the products list, they dont show WD external drives in the PDF price list - but if you search on western digital WDG1C5000 - you get them.

The ordering system penta have is something like that that Target has and I still cant quite get my head around why they do it. You can 'Order' it online - which is just a form to collect details from you and you cant actually pay - think you need to call the shop itself to place an order.

But anyway - nice find ashley7070 and thanks again

On the penta page, if you do a search for 500gb, the drive mentioned comes up in the search results, and you can click add to basket there. Shipping is not included though... but I believe GST is.

I'm not going through the whole checkout process, but the site maybe isn't very secure? There's no padlock in my explorer when I'm adding personal details...

EDIT - I was writing this when admin was.. !

:D:D - does that mean I type faster than you ?
  • nod2007/04/12 18:27:22
Yes I agree about the fact that the site does appear 'unpadlocked'
HB outlet have the same item for $275 if you prefer
