OK click through and enter this ecode in the finder boxes R520518-WEB to reach the deal, now that gave you a free cpu upgrade so using that as the spec below and enter coupon code 3913182DC576 will get you the deal for $821 which is a nice price. But...if you look you will see that 2 lower rated cpu's are listed for this ecode too and give up to $278 discount if selected. Now this throws a basket error if you try it online but if you were to call Dell and speak to an agent they may be happy to offer you the system with the dicounted cpu for as little as $586 delivered.
Here are the 2 discounted cpu's.
Intel Celeron Processor M 550 subtract $258.50
Intel Celeron Processor M 540 subtract $278.30

I think they may have fixed the "error" - will not allow cpu selection.

I don't think this is a pricing error at all as the CPU's listed -$278.30 and -$258.50 are far inferior processors compared to the default selection. So it would make sense that the laptop would be a fair amount cheaper by selecting these processors.

The default selection is a Core 2 Duo where as these cheaper CPU's that minus the $$ amount are Celeron M. I would recommend if you purchase this laptop that you would go with the default selection particularly if you stay with the default selection of Vista coz you will need it otherwise it will be as slow as a snail. Just my opinion. :)

a new cpu costs that much, although they may be getting it cheaper..

Well I do my homework before posting these so I can assure you that this deal with a celeron cpu IS cheaper than any 1510 being offered with the celeron as the default cpu. The ecode they offer with a celeron also only has an 80GB hard drive so its cheaper by around $50 plus the cost of 80GB of drive space.

As to the new range of mobile celerons being slow...have you actually tried using one? I have a Vostro 1500 with a 1.86Ghz part and in normal day to day use you wouldnt know its not a core 2 duo. Quite impressive performance for a budget cpu.

I just worked it out exactly and if you were able to get the deal from an agent with the Celeron Processor M 540 you would save $79 on the cost of the cpu and $38 (the cost of the extra 80GB of drive space) so total of $117 over buying the ecode that has the Celeron cpu as default.
