  • nod2009/03/21 20:16:15
looks like the trade from EB might be more than $40!
  • joelwilliam2009/03/22 02:45:09
great price. I wonder if EB will trade imported games? Has anyone ever tried?
  • Wormetti2009/03/22 04:19:08
They can't legally trade any game that doesn't have an Australian rating sticker but it all depends on whether the employee notices. I have had PAL games from the UK rejected but I didn't bother to cover up the obvious 16+ rating.
  • joelwilliam2009/03/22 18:09:41
I wonder if you could find Aussie Covers for the games? That's probably the only thing that's different in a UK vs AU release.
  • lilpretzel2009/03/22 20:17:14
I'll have to check my other games I've ordered but don't remember them being any different.

    :)

Interesting point. Something I dont think about with the imports. Odd that they can sell them but then you can't trade them? Not sure what the difference is

Actually Australian stores can't legally sell imported games but they often do. All games have to have an Australian rating displayed. I have traded import games at JB Hi-Fi but on their website, it says they don't take imports, so again it depends on the employee.

EB Games will take a game without the original case (I traded Mirror's Edge without case for a $42 gift card, same price as with case). They must have heaps of spare cases.

Whether you can trade it or not, $12.30 is a bargain.
  • nod2009/03/22 21:22:07
Good point about the cases. Do you get less for the trade-in?

So with the imports that are sold on a number of sites do they add a rating sticker usually. Can't say I have ever noticed :D
  • Wormetti2009/03/22 21:30:19
I've never had an online import order have an Australian rating sticker put on it. There might be some exemption for online stores but mostly if you order from an international store, it's not the sellers responsibility to check your local laws. EB Games gave me the same trade value for a game even though I didn't include the original case (got it from kmart without case for $20) but they might not do that for all games.
  • nod2009/03/22 21:49:51
Guess it would depend on the 'trade-in value' for the game.
I can understand about the international stores for sure. Might see if I can dig something on on whether there are exemptions. I mean places like DealsDirect and OO.com.au etcc sometimes have imports and they are Oz registered companies

    My order says "Pending dispatch".

Price is now $65.56 and it says "Due to high demand, this item is temporarily out of stock. Check back soon!".
  • lilpretzel2009/03/23 16:26:35
I'm very interested to know the total of copies that got sold for $12.29/$13.34
  • Wormetti2009/03/24 14:26:06

Me too, I'm sure they have cancelled everyone's who ordered at the new lower price. I saw comments on oz bargain of people ordering 10+ copies at a time.
  • hahaer2009/03/24 15:02:59

  • nod2009/03/27 20:18:02
I see CD WOW have canceled quite a few orders and restocked the item under a new name :D
Does not send a very good message to the consumer. Guess CD Wow hoped that no one would notice :D

Re the cancellation if they are calling it a misprice (which with the saving) it could very well have been then they can cancel the orders with no repercussions at all.
Something that they maybe did not think about is that CD Wow will 'pay' in the end when they see a big dent in their reputation :whistling:
