Well, you would hope that they would - they have some 11 months to do it. :D
Anyhow, induction cooktop here @ chez Ninkasi so unfortunately these (anodised aluminium) jobs are useless for us.

Will let it pass this one time, Donkey. :D

Induction is great. You have the ceramic top so it's easy to clean spills, and it's flat so anoher space to dump groceries. Visually they also look neater/cleaner than a gas hob. In addition when you put a pot on it heats up super fast, can reach very high temperatures if you need it, plus temperature control is really accurate. I've heard that many chefs are moving over from gas to induction where possible (or at least having one in a kitchen) because of the temperature control. Personally, we wouldn't go back. The *only* hassle is some of your old pans may not work - if a fridge magnet won't stick to the base, then it's a garden ornament.

Oh, there is sort of a safety aspect as well in that the top will only heat up if there's a pot there - so if a kid turns it on then puts their hand on it, it won't burn them. On the other hand the ceramic does heat up from contact with a hot pan so when the pan is removed the top is still hot for a while - but most have a feature where the ring 'glows' when it's warm as a warning...
