Conveniently Located Hotels at the Best Prices for The Melbourne Cup 2015

The Melbourne Cup 2015 is almost upon us and if you are planning on spending this weekend finalising your trip, then the following hotel suggestions could come as a great relief. Below you will find a list of some of the best rates that I was able to find in Melbourne to suite a range of budgets, staying between the 2nd and 4th of November. Besides the good prices, I've also provided information on their ratings, which have coupons/vouchers available for extra savings along with a few other hints and tips on how to get the best deal at each.

To make things as convenient as possible, I've kept all accommodation options to within 6km of the Flemington racecourse where the Melbourne Cup 2015 will be held. Trivago was the main tool I used for finding these great prices, but you'll also find direct links to each hotel so that you can review them in more detail yourself if needed. I wish you all the best in making your travel arrangements and of course if you’re a betting person, good luck on the races too.

Why I chose this hotel

The Pegasus Apart’Hotel is well positioned at only 3.3KM away from the Flemington racecourse and is close to all transport links, plus other travel websites were charging between $264 and $401 per night. The hotel runs its own free shuttle service, so if you are flying in from the airport, catch a Skybus to Southern Cross and then from here you can take the hotel shuttle bus straight to the hotel’s front door. On tripadvisor the hotel is considered the 9th best Spa Hotel in Melbourne.

Why I chose this hotel

The Ashley Gardens Big4 Holiday Village is an appealing holiday park providing an alternative accommodation option for visitors. It’s effectively a little bit of country in the city and equally as quiet as the country. If you choose the deluxe cabins they come with spa baths, but all cabins and villas are insulated from the outside road noises. There is a kid’s playground within the compound, plus a 24-hour supermarket next to the park location. Feel free to stock up on the basics before you head to your cabin, as it could be a long walk. To access the city head to the entrance where you can catch a bus into Melbourne.

Tips: If you book for three nights, which means you're paying more than $350, then you can apply's voucher to get your 3rd night for only $69 extra.

Jasper Hotel

Jasper Hotel in Melbourne for the Melbourne Cup Carnival 2015

Distance: 3.3km

Price: $288 p/night

Amenities: High Speed Wi-Fi, Gym, Pool

Voucher Discount: None Currently

Why I chose this hotel

The Jasper hotel is a very clean, modern hotel which has been fully refurbished within the past 2 years. If you book through helloworld you can save $51 per night compared to other websites. Helloworld have rooms for sale at $288/night versus every other site showing minimum rates of $339/night. The hotel also has a free shuttle service from Southern Cross station. If on the other hand you are driving, the hotel offers a 10% discount with Green Car Co Parking on 58 Franklin Street (around the corner), which is a covered multi-story car park. If you don’t want to walk from the car park, the Jasper hotel is now within the free tram zone of the CBD.

Tips: The newly renovated courtyard rooms have great views of the new décor and are also slightly larger than the courtyard access rooms. However, if none are available, take a room facing the markets for a beautifully quiet sunset view.

Parkville Motel

Parkville Motel Melbourne for Melbourne Cup 2015

Distance: 2.5km

Price: $95 p/night

Amenities: High Speed Wi-Fi, Free Parking and Room Fridge

Buckscoop Voucher: None Currently

Why I chose this hotel

If you're on a tighter budget and just looking for somewhere to rest your head at night, then The Parkville Motel is a basic motel right around the corner of the racecourse. Décor and facilities are basic, but there's free parking to help keep travelling costs down and you are only a stones throw away from Sydney road, which is packed with restaurants and bars.
