Great news for green thumbs and all the Aussie parents who are tired of bringing home plastic collectibles with their shopping: the new Woolworths Discovery Garden starts today!
There has been a lot of buzz about this new promotion from Woolworths, and with springtime upon us, and a bigger focus than ever on sustainability and environmental health, it stands to good reason that parents and kids would be very excited to kick start their very own gardens.
Every Shop Over $30 Gets a Seedling Kit
Whether you shop online or at a Woolworths store, you will receive one Woolworths Discovery Garden Seedling Kit with every spend over $30.
Bonus Seedling Kits: If you spend $15 or more on eligible fruit and vegetable items, you receive an additional bonus Seedling Kit. (Eligible items includes all fresh fruit and veg, and excludes canned, tinned, frozen and dried products.)
What's inside the Seedling Kits?
Each Woolworths Seedling Kits contains four items:
- Seed Paper
- Cardboard Pot
- Pop-Out Seed Name Tag
- Soil Pellet
Seedling Kits are distributed at random, so you won't know which plant you get until you open it up and see the seed paper.
Grab a Discovery Garden Collector's Tray Early!
Collector's Trays are available now until sold out, and from the advice I received at my local store, these are likely to sell fast, so it's best to grab one early on in the promotion. You can buy the trays for $4 each.
If you are a Woolworths Rewards customer, look out for an email inviting you to activate an offer for a free tray with your next shop.
A Range of Herbs, Vegies & Flowers to Collect
There are 24 different Seedling Kits to collect, and kids aged five and over can get started creating their very own herb gardens, veggie gardens, and flower patches right away.

How to Use Woolworths Seedling Kits
By providing everything kids need to plant their seeds (with the exception of water and light, of course), it couldn't be easier to get those gardens started.
The instructions for planting the seeds are printed on the reverse side of the Seedling Kit packaging.
- Put the soil pellet on a plate and cover with approximately 50 millilitres of water
- Wearing gloves, the water needs to be mixed into the soil pellet to soften it and help it expand
- Fill up the cardboard pot with the soil, leaving about one centimetre at the top.
- Place the seed paper over the top of the soil (and no, you do not remove the seeds from the paper), and then cover the seed paper with another layer of soil.
- Place the pot in a spot where there is plenty of natural light, but not direct sunlight
- Water only when the soil feels dry
- Watch for the seeds to sprout, and when they are a little bigger, they can be transferred to a bigger pot.
Be quick! Promotion Runs for a Limited Time!
The Woolworths Discovery Garden will be around from11th September until 22nd October - so plan your shops to make sure you can collect as many Seedling Kits as possible.
