In massive brick-building news, a LEGO Ideas build has just landed in Australia to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the world-famous Friends sitcom, and if the Twitter teaser and consequential global hysteria is anything to go by, this is going to be the hottest LEGO build of the year.
The LEGO Ideas Central Perk set contains 1070 pieces, and it is packed with features that are so true to the Central Perk we all know and love. The entire scene focuses on the seating area, with couch, armchairs and coffee table. There is a stage where Phoebe performed (Smelly Cat, perhaps?), the service area, entrance doors - even studio lights.
There are seven minifigures included: Rachel, Ross, Chandler, Monica, Joey, Phoebe, and Gunther as well. Extra details include a cash register, coffee machine, Joey's pizza box, Chandler's laptop, Gunther's broom, 15 coffee cups, vases and flowers, Monica's muffin, and Phoebe's guitar.
On August 6th, LEGO dropped a teaser video on its Twitter account that sent the LEGO-loving world into a frenzy. In the clip, which has been viewed over 255,000 times, we see an image from the opening sequence of Friends, but in LEGO form.
With the iconic orange couch sitting front and centre, it was a strong hint that Central Perk was a strong contender for a themed set, and we're thrilled that it is - and that Gunther is the mix, because who else will make the coffee while Rachel is having a meltdown?
