Buckscoop wants you to qwibble more

This evening, Buckscoop is going to change dramatically. We are splitting the cashback site out from the deals forum. This will leave Qwibble to focus on cashback and Buckscoop to focus on vouchersdeals and freebies.

On Buckscoop we will be increasing the volume of content across vouchers, deals and freebies. Its staying the same member focused deals community as its always been though, we're not changing that bit. We are also adding a more comprehensive oz bargain blog. The blog will contain in-depth moderated content around major deals / consumer areas for example Tuesdays Click Frenzy, Australia's version of Black Friday.

On Qwibble we would like to introduce you to Peter Wakim who joined our team after helping build the UKs largest cashback website. Like a lot of Aussies, Pete did a 6 month tour in Europe and 13 years later decided to come back home...so we nabbed him. Pete and his team will be knocking on the door of all our merchants trying to find awesome promotions for you, like the $52 cash back on an Amayasim unlimited contract deal or the $100 cash back plus $50 EFTPOS card deal for Vodafone. Pete is slightly masochistic, a bargain junkie and loves a challenge.

Onto the nuts and bolts.

What about my Buckscoop cashback account?
Everything about your current Buckscoop account will just transfer over to Qwibble. This includes all transactions, your setting,.. everything. The only change you'll notice is when payments are made they will come from Qwibble and not Buckscoop. When making any new transactions use Qwibble in the same way you did Buckscoop. Use your existing details to login, click the link that sends you to the merchant and make a purchase. If you are not sure how things work, you can always look at the help section in Qwibble.

Are we selling up?
Nope. Easy to answer. The two sites amalgamated were confusing and in many respects dealt with two entirely separate things.

And my membership details.
We will be carrying your existing Buckscoop membership across both sites. You obviously need it to use Qwibble and get cashback. On Buckscoop its more for convenience and so that you don't need to create a new user for posting, commenting or setting preferences.

Finally, there is no need to be greedyyou can share us with your friends and let them know what a great service we provide. Dont forget, the more people using the site the better deals we can get.

We look forward to helping you Qwibble more while paying less.

I have a feeling this isn't going to work out for you and it's a shame because you had a good thing going.

Nice one Pete! I look forward to Qwibble having the same kind of success over here in Australia - it would be great to see public knowledge of cashback to grow.

There's a few glitches that we are progressively identifying and fixing. Profiles aren't viewable, voucher posts are dissapearing, etc

Something to remember when your listing deals by hot. A deal isnt 'Hot' until it reaches a certain temperature. Temp is determined by a combination of votes, views and comments. Once they reach the threshold temp you will see them listed in the sort by Hot order which isnt ascending / descending its chronological. Its important that you vote if you like something. It lets the original poster know that others share their opinion that something is good and it lets others know that something is considered good value. Likewise you can participate in making something hot by commenting on it - hopefully to improve the quality of the deal.

Dislike the new buckscoop site, looks messy and confusing. Loved the old layout. Don't have a good feeling about this at all.
  • Donkey
We'll make it good by having better content for you kazy.

How will it work for deals from cashback merchants? Previously if a Dell deal was listed, it would link with a Dell cashback. Now however it appears that people will have to manually go across to another site and find a merchant and go from there.
  • Donkey
Technically yes you would head over to qwibble and click out to the merchant and yes I agree its a little bit clunky, but the issue we had with the combined site is that people just didnt seem to get cashback - go figure. We encourage and deal posts to include reference to cashback that can be got where it makes the deal better and we can provide linkage over to qwibble to make it as seamless as possible.

By the way - all first time comments for each user go into the moderation queue - but after that you are able to post straight to the thread without it being held up. Its to stop spamming but sorry about the inconvenience.

I miss the old buckscoop :( This ones to much hard work to use.
  • melscott28
I found deals so much more appealing when I could see I could even get cashback.
  • Donkey
We encourage (obviously) anyone posting deals to continue to reference the cashback if it exists melscott.
  • melscott28
I don't mean to be difficult but when you post a deal does that mean you than have to check the other site to see if cash back exists for that company?
    • Donkey
No you dont have to, but if you think its worth a check to see whether it makes the deal better (where ever the cashback source) then we would encourage you to mention it in the posting - in the same manner as if you have a good price on something you'll often check to see if there's a voucher available to make it better.

    1. Qwibble not working (it deleted my email address and changed it to "MyAddress-Deleteme@gmail.com") 2. Your "contact us" page doesn't display the Captcha it requires 3. My emails are ignored :-(
    • Donkey
Thanks bareis. Will forward your comments on to qwibble admin and get them to contact you.

I thought I'd wait and give it a proper try... I know there are still teething problems but I don't like the new layout - I don't find it as user friendly as before and I think it looks cluttered and messy. It also doesn't load links to outside websites properly from my phone. Maybe this has been the case for a while (ie before Buckscoop split into Qwibble) but only recently have I been doing a lot of online shopping for Xmas, and Qwibble is lacking many of the cashbacks for websites I shop on. This has resulted in me signing up to StartHere.com.au (as they do offer the cashbacks I was seeking and a MUCH bigger range of cashbacks than Qwibble, although their payout percentage is lower for the ones that Qwibble also subscribes to).

Is there a view to see the latest coupons/vouchers?
  • Donkey
At the moment there's not. Annoys me as well and will get it changed relatively soon.
  • Keeys
Well I've given it some time to settle in and try to find my way around etc but I really don't like the changes at all :( I find it hard to find anything really and get frustrated to the point I don't log in like I useto and by the lack of deals, codes etc I'd say I'm not the only one? I want my old bucky back :(
  • Rebekah76
I can't even log into Qwibble, and the support has been really really slow. I've tried using different browsers. 6 weeks is how long I have waited to have my ticket responded to!! Donkey, can you help?
    • Donkey
I'll chase them up for you Rebekah
