Aldi's beer and wine advent calendars have been a highlight of the Christmas season overseas in previous years, and their value for money has made them crazy-popular among those who love a festive sip. They are heading our way next week, and if last year's mayhem was anything to go by, prepare to move like lightning if you want to get your hands on them.
For Christmas 2019, Aldi will bestow on us not one, but four boozy advent calendars - and the festive goodness doesn't end there. In a first for the Australian store, there will also be gin and vodka baubles, and gin-filled Christmas crackers up for grabs.
All of these items appear make up part of the Aldi Special Buys for Wednesday 13th November.
The Aldi Wine Advent Calendar returns!
The famous 24 Days of Celebration Wine Advent Calendar ($79.99) is back for 2019, and once again contains 24 mini bottles of delicious drops - all French , no less.
With plenty of varieties to keep this interesting, you can expect to see the likes of Brut Dargent Sparkling Chardonnay, Louis Eschenauer Merlot, Calvet Pinot Noir Brut Rose and plenty more.
There's plenty for the beer lovers
The Hoppy Christmas Beer Advent Calendar ($59.99) was a massive hit last year among the beer-loving community for the simple fact that it's so festive and such incredible value. The good news is that it's back at exactly the same great price in 2019, and still includes 24 international beers, many of which are some of the most popular around. Each beer comes in a standard size, and they include Asahi, Peroni, Corona, Tsingtao and more. At just $59.99 for the entire calendar, you're getting each beer for just $2.50 each - and that's a massive bargain!
In another first for Aldi Australia, the 12 Days of Craftmas Advent Calendar ($39.99) joins the lineup of booze treats this year. All beers included in this one have been curated from all-Aussie breweries, and come in a standard size. In the ever-growing world of craft beer, this Christmas countdown is by far the best value around.
Prefer gin? Aldi hears you
The 12 Gins of Christmas Advent Calendar ($59.99) includes a sampling of some of the very best gins in the world. Greenall's and Hayman's are just a few in the mix, and each mini is perfect for one pre-Christmas G&T.
And then there are the decorations...
Bottoms Up Gin Crackers ($39.99) are going to be the ultimate festive additions to the adult table for Christmas lunch, and The Lakes Distillery's much-loved gin and vodka baubles ($34.99) make sensational pre-Christmas gifts for colleagues, friends and family who love a sip. Both of these are tough to find elsewhere in Australia, so get your skates on!
Re-released gift packs are still great value
The Ackerland Bière de Noël Gift Pack ($14.99) includes four bottles of French traditional Christmas beer. With hints of citrus and spice, this golden beer is said to be the perfect accompaniment to festive fare, and with some great packaging it's totally ready to gift.
The Premium Imported Beer Gift Pack ($22.99) contains ten internationally acclaimed beers, like Stella Artois, Budweiser and Peroni Red. Again, this is fab value, and well worth snapping up if you've got beer lovers in your life.
Prepare For Queues!
Wednesday 13th November is the day, people. Mark it in your diaries, write it on 15 post-in notes, and save a reminder in your phone. These will sell FAST, and our advice is to be in the queue at your local Aldi at 8:30 a.m. when doors open, and make a beeline for the back of the back of the store where all of the goodies are usually stashed. (Note, you will have to wait until 9 a.m. to be able to purchase alcohol, though.)
With 24 bottles in the larger calendars, these will be quite heavy, so be prepared and grab your trolley early - or take a mate so that you can lug one each!
