Find out what you can return at Myer, and how to process online returns
All Your Questions About Myer Returns Answered

If you ever find yourself confused about what the Myer returns policy is, you're certainly not alone. With so many departments and countless products in one place, it is understandably tricky to know which rules apply to what products.

Can I return swimwear? What's the process for Myer online returns? How will I be refunded?

These and more questions are answered below to help you know exactly what you can and can't return at Myer, and importantly, how online returns work at this ever-evolving store.

What is the Myer Returns Policy?

The good news is that, like all great stores, Myer is very accommodation of returns and makes it quite an easy process for shoppers.

The Myer returns policy states that you can return change-of-mind items within 30 days at any store or online as long as you have proof of purchase and the item is in its original packaging and able to be re-sold.

Of course there are some exclusions to consider (see below), and these should definitely be taken into account when buying anything at Myer, especially if it has a high price tag.

If you have a faulty item on your hands, you can of course return it regardless of any exclusions.

Check out the Myer returns page for full details.

What can't be returned at Myer?

There are a number of item that are excluded from returns at Myer, such as pierced jewellery, custom-made or personalised items, bulky items like fridges and mattresses, an Apple product not in original packaging, gift cards, any perishables, and anything purchased for the gift registry.

If your item has been worn or used, it won't be accepted; nor will an item with opened packaging.

Remember faulty items are a different story, and even if you have an item that falls in the exclusions list, you should still be able to return it. Contact Myer to discuss faulty returns.

Can I return sale items at Myer?

Usually sale items can be returned, whether bought online or in a Myer store. Be aware that they have to meet the same criteria as a full-priced return as mentioned above. (Make sure there are no make-up stains or marks on any garments, and that all items are in a re-sale condition.)

Also keep in mind that the 30-day policy applies to sale items as well.

How do Myer online returns work?

If you can't get to a Myer Hub to return your online order in person, it's perfectly acceptable to post your unwanted online purchase back, provided it weighs less than 10kg and adheres to the conditions mentioned above.

To make an online return, you'll need to follow these simple steps:

  • Sign in to your Myer account (you will have one if you have bought from Myer)
  • Select "return this item" against the applicable order in your account and follow the instructions
  • Re-pack your items, ensuring they are in perfect as-new condition (unless faulty), and label your parcel according to the instructions given to you on your online return request
  • Drop it off at any ParcelPoint location of which there are thousands of them, and they include Australia Post locations

If you have any difficulty with processing your online return, don't sweat it. Phone Myer on 13 69 37, and the staff will organise the return on your behalf. (You will still need to post it, though!)

Are online returns free?

Sadly, no. You will have to pay a $6.95 postage fee.

How do I exchange something I bought online?

Like change-of-mind returns, exchanges must be made within 30 days and be ready for re-sale, which means in original packaging and absolutely unworn and/or unused.

Exchanging at a Myer store is as simple as turning up and having your tax invoice with you, but to exchange online you will need to follow the same steps as mentioned above for general returns. In your account, you will have the opportunity to state what you want to exchange the item for, and it will need to be either a different size or colour of the same item.

If, for example, you want to return a purse for a pair of shoes, you will have to process a return for one, and buy the new item in a separate transaction.

Remember! With exchanges, you will have to pay the return postage ($6.95) and the postage for the new item ($7.95), so take this into account and determine whether the additional costs are worth it.

Considering that postage is not free, the hands-down best option for returning and exchanging is to do it in person at a Myer store - of which there are more than a few!

What is a Myer Returns Card?

There are cases when an item is returned but a refund cannot be made in cash, like with gift cards or store credit. In this case, Myer issues a Myer Returns Card, which acts like cash but it has an expiry date (so look out for it!).

How do Myer Afterpay returns work?

Bought something using Afterpay and want to return it? No problem. In fact, it rarely matters how an item was paid for, returns are generally always treated the same at Myer and just need to stick to those rules mentioned above.

With an Afterpay purchase, you can decide whether to return it via the online steps or at a Myer store. Once the return is received, Myer will advise Afterpay to cancel all future payments, and it will refund you any payments already made (of which there will be at least one which was made at the time of purchase.)

Our Afterpay guide will give you more insight as to how this method of payment works.

I need help with a return. How can I contact Myer?
