Shaw Winemakers Selection Cab Sav 2008 case + decanter + glasses + magnum $167.90 ($155.70)

3 February 2011

I reckon the whole combination of things you get in this deal are a bargain buy. Firstly you get the case of Shaw Winemakers Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2008. Its priced at $14 a bottle which is $1 less than what your paying on the open market at the moment. But more compelling than that is that the wine comes dripping with awards so its likely to be very drinkable. These are what its won

Gold Medal Vienna International Wine Challenge 2010
Silver Medal NSW Small Winemakers Awards 2009
Silver Medal Rutherglen Wine Show 2009
Silver Medal National Cool Climate Wine Show 2009
Bronze Medal Decanter World Wine Awards London 2009
Bronze Medal International Wine Challenge London 2009
Bronze Medal Cairns Show Wine Awards 2009
Bronze Medal NSW Boutique Wine Awards 2009
Bronze Medal Canberra Regional Wine Show 2009
Bronze Medal Riverina Wine Show 2009
Bronze Medal NSW Wine Awards 2009
Bronze Medal Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2009
Bronze Medal Australian Small Winemakers Show 2009
Bronze Medal Wine Style Asia Awards 2009
Bronze Medal Vintage Cellars National Wine Show 2009
Bronze Medal International Wine & Spirits Competition, UK 2009
Bronze Medal WSA Wine Challenge Singapore 2010

In addition to the case you get a freebie magnum of Tyrrells Heathcote Shiraz 2008 and two crystal glasses by using the promo code WINEM17M4 at the checkout.

And lastly the case of cab sav comes with a Monto Cantina Firenze decanter as well.

Not bad value. When you factor in the 8% cashback offer at wine selectors (works out to $12.20 off) you effectively only pay $155.70.

You can make this deal better if you dont mind a bit of stuffing around and you want another case of wine. If you were to take advantage of the Refer a Friend (ie your neighbour or brother) you could also claim a bottle of 2008 Nest Egg Shiraz and four Schott Zweisel wine glasses. To be eligible to claim this lot as well you need to refer a friend who signs up to the wine selectors quarterly case of wine programme. Make sure you read the ]terms and conditions for yourself. The cheapest here is the $139 one. Once you sign up to it and buy the case (using your card obviously) there is no ongoing commitment and your friend can cancel the sub.
