LivingSocial are running an offer where you can purchase $15 worth of "Deal Bucks" (which is essentially like credit) for just $8, giving you an additional discount on purchases across their site. And using it in on existing offers opens up a variety of new bargain opportunities.
Another reason to highlight this offer in its own post is due to the fact that despite the terms stating that you will only be able to use the credit 48 hours after the deal has expired (31st August 2014), many customers are reporting that once paid for, you can begin using this credit to buy things straight away.
Before I suggest some deals where these Deal Bucks can be put to good use, here's a quick overview of the other important terms and conditions worth knowing about. The credit can be used towards:
- Daily deals (spa packages, restaurant offers, hair makeovers and so on)
- Experiences (skydiving, V8 hot laps, wine tasting, educational courses etc)
- Escapes (travel packages)
- Products (electronics, clothes, accessories etc)
There's a limit of one Deals Bucks voucher per person and each one is valid for one year from the date of purchase.
Our deal hunting guru "vikk" came up with the following list of deals where using this credit will maximise your savings on existing deals. First up is the offer to get a pack of wine pearls, which keep your white wine chilled for longer without diluting it as with traditional ice. The original deal on these is exactly $15, so using your Deal Bucks gets you a pack for just $8 which if you add shipping on top of, brings the total to $12.95.
That's approximately 35% off the next best price which you'll be able to find online for these wine pearls. MilanDirect, Everten, Kitchenware Direct, DishnThat, Zanui and so on are all charging between $20 and $30 once you factor in delivery costs.
Alongside the above deal, you'll also see that LivingSocial have whiskey stones available which you can apply your credit towards to get for the same price as the wine pearls. However, despite this being a very tempting offer compared to market prices on these stones elsewhere, your best bet is to head to Dan Murphys who have a special on these which you can also combine with their free metro delivery offer. Ultimately, you'll end up paying just $9 in total which is a hot bargain - see deal details here.
The other deal worth applying your Deal Bucks credit towards is on a pair of Havaianas listed at $12.95 (11 different styles available at this price). The original deal for these that was posted up on Buckscoop, talked about making use of LivingSocial's current 15% off promo code which brought the shipping included price to $20.95. Not bad considering that these thongs generally sell for around $25 or more at most other stores (like Surf Dive ‘N’ Ski, Ozmosis, SurfStitch, or General Pants Co.).
Although, using the $15 Deal Bucks will once again help you get them for less, ending up at only $16.15 a pair. The way to do this is to purchase the credit by making sure you also apply the above 15% off code when doing so. In effect, this means you'll end up paying just $6.80 for your $8 credit thus giving you the extra discount to buy these for just over $16 with shipping. Note, the credit is not valid on LivingSocial's $9.95 shipping fee and only applies to the product's list price.
