Vikk’s Voucher Guide - Chapter One: ASOS Promo codes

We all know that deal hunting can be pretty time consuming, not to mention all the hassle going through the checkout process in order to see the final prices after added shipping costs and applied discount codes when comparing items across merchants. There has been a blog post about the traps of delivery charges as a result of deceiving offers; while this guide aims to give you some pointers on what to consider and look out for in terms of discount coupons (aka promo codes). I intend to write a post focusing on one or a couple of specific merchants each week, ASOS being the first one placed under the microscope.

British online retailer ASOS is one of the most popular fashion brands, generally offering low prices and free shipping on all Australian orders. ASOS is what I consider to be a moderate issuer of promo codes, generally having at least one new code each month. The validity of these codes vary from a week to almost a month, so time is not an impediment to get a good offer using an ASOS promo code.

Saying that, I have seen 24 hour flash codes, which are less frequent, but give you a higher discount percentage. Also ASOS codes tend to be repetitive, so if you do miss out on one, there’s no need to panic - the same discount is most likely to be available within a month or two. Note that the code itself changes, so always check the Vouchers page for the correct active promo code.

As per the value of these voucher codes, there are three discounts ASOS seems to favour: 25% off full priced items, 20% off store wide, or an extra 10-15% off sale items only. General sales peak at 70% off, and because of the free shipping policy, using the extra discount promo code on sale items can get you things delivered for around $10. Unlike many other retailers, ASOS usually has decent levels of stock available on low priced items, even in their sales category, including it’s own and international fashion labels, but all codes exclude certain brands, such as Superdry, Whistles, Primark and Pull & Bear.

ASOS fashionAnother type of coupon ASOS issues is the fixed $ discounts tied to a minimum spend threshold. In these cases you can also convert the savings into a percentage based on the minimum spend, which work out at the common 15-25% off discounts, though don’t forget, these have no exclusions, so you can mix sale items with garments from the new collections. One thing goes without saying, the higher the minimum spend tier, the higher the percentage of discount you get.

Although ASOS is a UK based retailer, they do offer free shipping to Australia on all orders with no minimum spend threshold. That means you never need a promo code to get your items delivered for free, which usually takes 5 to 7 working days. However, for impatient shoppers free express shipping promo codes do exist, but they usually can only be applied to a minimum order of $125. On average these come around once in a quarter, you can make sure you don’t miss out by checking Buckscoop on a regular basis.

Promo codes at ASOS can NOT be stacked, which means when there’s more than one active code at a time, you’ll have to think about which gives you the most discount. Overall, if you see an ASOS promo code which is giving you over 30% off, take advantage of it; it is as rare as steak tartar.
