Top Hotel Deals in Melbourne And Sydney

So you're thinking about getting away before the Christmas madness starts, are you? A bit of a break before the prices go sky high for the holidays? What a great idea! Let's have a look at hotels in Melbourne and Sydney for the week 11 - 17 November, and see if anything sounds like the best gift you can give yourself? Also, the last deal is super hot. Make sure you read to the end!

Starting in Melbourne, there' the luxurious Amora Hotel Riverwalk in a tranquil location on the banks of the Yarra River, with the CBD is only 10 minutes away.

Book it through, and you can cancel up to the day before, and will have to cater for your own breakfast, and the week will cost you $1,048 for two. has the exact sale deal on offer, but they'll charge you $1234 for the same thing.  Even if you add the coupon code AMEX10 to this offer, it comes to $1110.60, making this the more expensive offer. However, have a price match option: if you find a lower price - see the one! - they will refund you the difference and give you a $50 voucher to use on your next Expedia booking. Check out the activities you can buy through Expedia for what's essentially a free cruise or other activity that you can use your voucher for, and forget about the 10% off offer, and you should also be able to get almost $200 'refunded'. Nice one.

What if you're looking way down the bottom of the budget hotel barrel though? Well, there's Sophia Hotel, which despite it's price tag of $90 a night is actually a four star hotel.

If you book through, you'll get a standard double room with free cancellations up to three days before and breakfast for two included for $123 per night, or $738 for the week. You'll also have to pay at the time of booking.  The standard double room has a shower instead of a bath.

Book through and you can cancel up to two days ahead, and only have to pay a week ahead of arrival. Your fee for the week will be $540, but remember that this is an Economy room, so you'll be sharing a bathroom.

I guess it's worth deciding whether your own shower and breakfast included is worth $198 to you.

Head over to Sydney instead and you can find plenty more great deals:

If you're looking for a hotel as a base rather than the holiday itself, the ibis Styles Sydney Lansvale is worth considering.

For $626 for the week for a Queen room - with a double and a single - when booked through Expedia you can have three occupants in the room. Breakfast isn't included and the rooms are non-refundable. You get a balcony, and a fridge with a tea and coffee maker, and a private bathroom. There's also a pool for leisure time.

Remember the 10% discount code above, and the room is yours for $563.28.

In contrast, you can book the same hotel and the same rooms through Agoda and you'll pay $816 for a maximum of 2 people.

This final offer is smoking hot. As you can imagine it'll go quickly so book now and if this particular week isn't available by the time you get there,  have a look around for more like it.

White WaratahWhite Waratah Retreat is a Spa Hotel with rooms starting at $999* a night. That's's current price, for a Queen Bed, ensuite with a double spa, telephone, internet, foxtel reverse cycle aircon, and tea & coffee making facilities. The week will cost you a tidy $5,994... unless...

Unless you book through instead. They currently have it on offer at a supposed 85% off, costing you $105 per night, or $629 for the week. That is an amazing discount and you'll feel treated like royalty, I'm sure.

*I have no idea why. The rooms if booked through the hotel directly are $220, so if you book through you're saving over 50%, which is still pretty darn good.

So, I won't keep you any longer - book your holiday now, and maybe I'll see you there!
