Maximise Your Discount at Woolworths By Knowing How To Stack Various Promotions Together

It's worth paying attention, as what you're about to read will show you how to make some potentially massive savings online at Woolies. What you'll need to know is which promos to stack on top of each other right now. Exactly how big those savings will be comes down to a few key aspects including what in particular you're looking to buy, how much these items cost, and whether you're an Everyday Rewards member or not.

What I've done below is give you a quick overview of the various promotional offers followed by some easy methods to go about using them in varying combinations to get the best discount possible.

List of Woolworths Online Promotional Offers:

-> Get 10% off orders over $50, valid for EDR (Everyday Rewards) members and only for 3 redemptions/uses until 6th June 2014

-> Get $10 off orders over $100 for everyone,  valid until the 23rd May and restricted to one voucher per transaction

-> Targeted offers to select customers* giving you 10% off when using your EDR card during checkout, valid until the 20th May 2014:

~ Use code REWARDA1  on minimum spends of $110

~ Use code REWARDA2   on minimum spends of $220

~ Use code REWARDA3   on minimum spends of $330

-> Free weekend delivery when choosing to have your online order delivered on either Saturday or Sunday (minimum spend $30; valid until June 30th; Exclusions: deliveries to remote areas, deliveries by third parties, Gift Ideas and Gift Card orders)

-> EDR members can buy a WISH Gift Card at a 5% discount here which can then be used for grocery purchases at Woolworths

-> ER Members with their birthday in May will also be able to use code HAPPYMAY14 to get an extra 10% off

->  New customers get first 3 deliveries for free

(* these 10% off discounts for EDR members appear to be targeted around your previous purchase history. However, we have read commentary from Woolies customers online who've said they were still able to use the codes despite not having received any emails/communication about the offer - so give them a go, or try different EDR member logins if there are more than one in your household)

Now let's look at some specific examples of how to apply these promotional offers and in which particular combination.

Example 1:

Huggies Jumbo Nappies (72 pack) for $24.50 at Woolworths

Your best place to start is probably to head to the weekly specials. Here's an example of a deal that was posted on Buckscoop earlier in the week which will show you how to stack both the "$10 off orders over $100" and "10% off orders over $50" promos on top of the free weekend delivery offer mentioned above to make some hefty savings.

With this deal you end up paying just $24.50 per box when purchasing 4 x Huggies Jumbo Nappies (72 pack), which would otherwise have cost you $33 per box over at Coles (before shipping charges).

Example 2:

Taking a look at the weekly specials in Sydney where I'm based, I could pick up 2 x cases of Strongbow cider for $45 each plus 550g of Australian beef fillet steak for $27.48. The cost for these items brings my shopping cart total to $117.48.

Now let's look at how to start stacking promos to drop the overall price.

Scenario A (savings of $31.32):

Let's assume you are an EDR cardholder (free to join) and you're able to use the REWARDA1 code above to get an extra 10% off. On top of this you will also be able to apply the "10% off orders over $50", "$10 off orders over $100" codes with the free weekend delivery promo which brings the total down to $86.16.

Right now, that means you're already paying less than what 2 x cases of Strongbow cider on their own would cost anywhere else online (including Dan Murphys for $43.90/case, 1st Choice for $44.90/case, and Vintage Cellars for $49.99/case - all excluding delivery fees).

Scenario B (savings of $21.75):

Assuming you're not an EDR cardholder or that the REWARDA1 code hasn't worked for you, then applying the other "10% off", "$10 off" and free weekend delivery promos should bring your shopping cart total down to $95.73.

Scenario C (savings of $36.32):

Assuming you are an EDR cardholder and you've pre-purchased a $100 WISH Gift Card at a 5% discount (i.e. which you paid $95 for), then stacking the same promos as shown in Scenario A you would mean you end up with the same shopping cart total. However, don't forget that in real terms your Wish Gift Card has saved you a further $5 meaning you've actually only paid $81.16.

Scenario D (savings of $39.94):

Assuming you are an EDR cardholder and it's your birthday this month, then in addition to applying all the promos in Scenario A, you can also use the HAPPYMAY14 code to shave yet another 10% off the total bringing it to $77.54.

Right, time for you to start stacking up promos on your own deals - happy bargain hunting at Woolies!
