About collette One of Australia’s most successful fashion designers, Collette Dinnigan has exhibited in London and Paris, where she was the first Australian to launch a ‘ready-to-wear’ collection, as well as the first Australian to be asked by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture to show in the prestigious Paris Fashion Week schedule. Her work has featured in movies and on television and her clothes have been worn by leaders of world fashion, such as the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Mary of Denmark and Kylie Minogue. In 2012, the NSW Government honoured Collette with the 5th Australian Fashion Laureate Award, recognising her outstanding creative and intellectual achievement in the Australian Fashion Industry. Her first book, Obsessive Creative, was published in 2013 to great success. Also in 2013, Collette announced her retirement from Paris Fashion Week and the downsize of all retail and wholesale operations to devote her attention to her young family. On September 2nd, 2015, the Honorable Julie Bishop opened Collette’s retrospective exhibition, Collette Dinnigan: Unlaced, at the Museum of Applied Arts and Science Powerhouse Museum. Collette is the first designer exhibited inside the Museum’s Centre for Fashion. The exhibition explores Collette’s creative process and the romantic, feminine designs that have seen her work sought after by a star-studded clientele of international actresses and royalty.
