This email just popped into my inbox from Get Wines Direct, advertising the 6 pack of Sieur d'Arques Cremant De Limoux Brut for $80 with free delivery.
I thought it's a good deal for those who like French sparkling - it's rated 94 points by the "pros" and has won gold medals year after year in competitions. Sieur d'Arques is definitely one of the best value for money sparkling you can buy, but I have never seen any of them for below $16 - $18 a bottle sell anywhere before.
Customers who bought this sparkling wine at Get Wines Direct seem very happy, with only 4 and 5 star reviews.
It's a blend of 70% Chardonnay, 20% Chenin and 10% Mauzac (all handpicked). Twice fermented (in vats with temperature control then second time around in the bottle) it's ageing on laths during a minimum of 15 months.
"Yellow gold colour with green tints, the purl is tiny and long lasting. The nose is fresh and vivid with a mix of white flowers, white fleshed fruits, peach and green apples and citrus aromas. The wine develops notes of hazelnut. The attack is frank and vivid with a nice unctuousness. The wine is powerful, well balanced with toasted notes on the finish."
