Topfield TRF-2400 HD PVR Masterpiece $495 From Major Electrical Retailer

12 August 2011

I've been looking for a Topfield TRF-2400 PVR for the past few weeks now, I'm waiting to see if I get one for my Birthday on Saturday.

This is the best price I have ever seen the TRF-2400 selling for, they are selling it cheaper than what most major electrical retail stores have the TRF-7160 (a cheaper model).

I have contacted the sell, who has told me they are a very major player in the electrical retail industry. The only reason they don't want to mention what retailer they are is because it could be frowned on by their head office or Topfield. They told me that it will be printed on the receipt though.

I have the old SD Topfield Masterpiece from 6-7 years ago, it still works 100% today, its the best electrical appliance I have ever bought. I can't wait to see if I get the new TRF-2400 for my Birthday on Saturday, if not I'll get one from here.

I hope this has helped a few of you guys out.

Good price, although I'd also consider getting it from ]icetv as although it's a little more expensive, you get a year's worth of ice-tv tv guide (that also includes the ability to set/record shows remotely over the web/iphone/etc) plus support from a business with a name. A year's subscription normal cost is $99 for the year, although they do discount that every now and then. Actually, as much as I loved my old TF5000PVRT Masterpiece toppy (did have to replace the hard drivea while back, but otherwise has been very reliable), and replaced that with a TF7100HDPVRtPlus a year ago, and the quad recording is neat, I'd be tempted with the ]Beyonwiz with 2TB of space for recordings.... don't forget, you should also get 2.25% buckscoop bucks back.... ;)

I've just noticed that the site has been updated to say it is from a Retravision store, so it is from a major retailer. I've also not heard many good things about Beyondwiz.

Nice to know it's possibly from a Retravision store, but you'd actually be buying it on eBay from a person called 'digital.possum' who has sold two other things before. Probably fine of course, but a lot of trust is required. As for issues with Beyonwiz - gotta say I haven't really heard of anything specific. No more than issues people have had with Topfields, Tivos, etc.... guy at my office has one & is happy with it.

Or here - they are a Retravision in Geelong (I got my 2460 there): $535 + $9.95 freight (with bonus HDMI cable), but I reckon the IceTV is better value. Better off with the 2460 as you need all the space you can get.

What do you think?
