Be kindof funny to set up a buckscoop cruise....

nice, do they do this sort of thing often, ie give away cruise spots at last minute?
• jackyblue

I've not seen them at this price for twin but sometimes at this price for quad. My parents earlier this year got twin share from Brissie to South Pacific for 10 nights finishing in Auckland. They then went on the following cruise 8 nights south Pacific returned back to Auckland for just $985 each for the 18nights. We then teamed it up with one of those campers for $5 a day and air fares I got on special for $180 to get back to Brissie. They had a ball and it didn't cost a fortune. My tips for good deals if interested is sign up to the newsletters. You get to know they cycles of specials etc. Nov will have specials then not alot till Feb/March. CruiseMart and Best Cruises are 2 of the better websites. GOODLUCK!!! PS we did this same cruise Jan last year with the 3 kids and loved it despite the weather not being the best.

i havent every been on a cruise, i would just be worried that i would feel trapped.... Like while your at sea you cant exactly get off the boat....
• Keeys
You don't even notice ...your so busy ...mainly eating lol So much to do and you only have a few full sea days the others your back on land. I was always worried about getting sea sick because I can't even go to an underwater aquarium without getting sea sick but I used sea bands both times with no problems at all. Last time was really rough and still no problems. I plan on going again when the older kids are older and don't want to come lol Can't afford for 5 of us to go now the eldest is 13 and classed as an adult :( These kids of deals are always at bad times to pull high school kids out of school so no hope of picking up a bargin. :(

Sea Bands?? really ... never heard of them, must google..
• Keeys
they are an elastic band you wear that has a bead that pushes on a preasure point on the inner arm. Ment to be good for morning sickness as well. http://www.sea-band.com/images/USA-seaband-pack-tn.jpg

I have been on 4 cruises and had a fantastic time, you don't miss land at all on those few days you are at sea. Last time we booked a balcony cabin (no kids with us) and were up graded for free to a mini suite, it was so good and we were spoilt rotten lol. We found out a secret to a free up grade like that was that we were one of the first to book on that cruise and it was at 2 for 1 price also! When we plan a cruise we get the brochures and make a short list, then keep our eyes out for any of them to come up as 2 for 1 special :D

slightly off topic, but... sea bands work for motion sickness... does that apply to cars? btw, sounds like great fun I'll keep my eyes out for some cruises for the future... cant really take up on this offer now my missues is due with our 2nd baby in november .... i dont think she'll appreciate it if I went with someone else :P haha she doesnt frequent this board
• Keeys
Yes you don't want to miss the abuse ...I mean delivery ;) How exciting a new baby, much better than a holiday. We took our littest on his first cruise at 13mths. They can't cruise till 12mths ;)

Sailing out of Australia is the best. We went on the Sun in June. It's rough sailing out of Auckland. We arrived late at our first port and we arrived late back in Auckland because of rough seas. Overall we had heaps of fun and those sea band do work.

Has anyone looked into this deal further? I can't see any mention of twin share/queen bed anywhere in the link. This price seems too good to be true for twin share not quad!

If you go to the main homepage, this is advertised:
7 NIGHTS FROM ONLY $695 TWIN SHARE 7 night cruise departs Brisbane now to May 09 visiting Noumea, Lifou and Vanuatu from only $695pp twin share
and when you click on it, it brings you to the link Keeys has attached to this offer :D

I should probably post this in find me a bargain but just a quick check on sea band prices... quick search online shows they are prices between $13-$18 right? no need to go hunting for the sub $10 one right?
• Gallifrey
Has anyone checked with the company re this cruise, I found one of these great specials before and 4 of us decided to go and when I contacted the discount site to book the cruise it was sold out but they still were advertising it on the site! I also checked with P&O and there were no berths available :(
• sal78
Does anyone know how much extra with a child 3yo? I was going to do a cruise in Nov and enquired about prices a couple of mths ago, quoted $3.5k which I didn't think was worth it.
• Keeys
The cruises as you can imagine sell out fast. The ones I booked for my parents (talked about earlier in the thread) were booked through best cruises. By the time I phoned my parents they talked about it for a day when we phoned them it was gone. However they did say there may be another realease but couldn't be certain. That afternoon at 4pm an email came through with the same deal we'd been after with an even cheaper price tag. I phoned and booked paid in full right away. You really do need to get in fast but if looking for something it doesn't hurt to phone them and sus it out. Dealing with P&O direct is almost always more expencive than other companies. Just as old sold out deals are on websites there are always new deals not yet on the website or out via email so if really keen phoning often is the best option.

All the bargain tickets are gone! ~Confirmed~ Time to expire the deal I think... :D

Just a similar offer I won't bother posting as a deal but for anyone interested in cruising early next year take a look at this for $729 quad and you get $75 onboard credit. http://www.cruiseaway.com.au/cruiselines/p_and_o_south_pacific/ships/pacific_sun/itineraries/pacific_sun,_south_pacific_ex_brisbane_return/specials.html?special_id=178653&sailingdate=2010-02-13 So for people looking for cruises there are good deals about you just have to be quick :)

What do you think?
