15 February 2008

OK, I'm a lame-brain, but I was actually kind of excited to see this in my junk mail. There's no way I'd pay the "RRP" of $60, but $10... I could do $10! I think this is a nifty gadget - maybe not terribly important, but a bit fun and a bit practical.

"Always dream of having a cleaning lady? Too tired to do housework? Go Duster is the amazing motorised duster that makes dusting faster, easier and more fun than you ever imagined! It´s battery operated, just push the button and the duster head starts to spin, picking up dust in a fraction of the time. Do you think that this is the one they sell through TV advertisements or a cheap copy?

I dunno but I'm not sold :D first off ... your dusting. Anything rotating dry is going to exacerbate the issue. Mind you ... you'll be thinking it works as it spreads those nice clumps of dust off into fine airborne particles. So then they give you a spray so the dust sticks - but then doesnt that raise the issue of a rotating furry device, now covered in sticky dust .... I need convincing.

I figure if dusters like these were that good wouldn't we all still be using the good old feather duster and alike? I agree its a good price for those interested though :)

Ah yes, the old "it's just relocating the dust" argument.... very true! I do agree, but still can't bring myself to think that's a bad thing.... the dust leaves the dusty place, floats around, and then resettles (maybe even somewhere else)... leaving the original dusty place clean, at least for a time. I don't s'pose anything can get rid of dust permanently and stop more dust (which is something like 80% dead skin cells*) being created. However, I *think* (am not sure) that the spinning and bla bla fibres are supposed to become statically charged and attract dust to the duster rather than spreading it. *shrug* that's what Enjo claims. Doesn't really work in high humidity. *this statistic is completely fabricated and made up. I plucked it out of my head and don't want to enter into a pseudo scientific debate about the composition of household (or even industrial) dust. :)

If it attracts the dust (which some fibres certainly do) then you are not just spreading the dust. And you can then shake the duster outside.

:d you had me convinced... but if you wanted to take it on as an experiment, at least it is not that much to pay :)

Back Instock but I did notice they have added this. *Note: DealsDirect.com.au does not directly promote this product via TV marketing, however we do note the similarity to such products that are sold on TV.

So do you reckon Deals Direct read Buckscoop :D
  • ScarletRubies
It may go something like: "This product is advertised on TV, and whoever paid for the advertising is not especially pleased with us cashing in on it. So, we'll admit we didn't pay for the ads, so they can't say we're saying 'we advertised it'. We're just saying it is advertised on TV. Just not by us."
  • bigal
