All you RSS Feed Guys Please Read

11 December 2007

You probably already know this - but the RSS feed on Buckscoop only delivers you the deals that have reached > 20 degrees. It means you lag behind everyone else on when you get to see the really good short shelf life stuff and miss out on a good chunk of the other deals that flow through the board that may be of interest. I sort of get paranoid that you dont already know this.

P.S can people please give this a hot vote until its > 20 so the RSS'ers can see it. :) - I'd do it myself but I dont have the voting power to.

Thanks

Would it be possible to modify the script to show us deals that have just been posted instead of seeing only the hot deals. That would be really helpful.

yea - thats on the cards ashley - I have no idea why the dev guys thought only the front page stuff should go up.

Probably due to the differences in how threads appear and deals appear on the front page. With the deals, each newly appearing deal appears as a new update, and drops accordingly. Where as forum threads are posted, but re-appear at the top at a later date. Also the frequency of updates happen a lot more on the forums. Don't know if that made sense, and maybe I'm totally clueless anyway, :P

Sounds good to me Trevorf :D The ideal would be that you could have a choice I guess. But would be good to get some feedback from all the Buckscoopers out there as to what you would find the most useful

You could say that viewing the forums is encouraging involvement also.

Yea - I prefer when people view the forum myself.

I wouldn't mind viewing the forum but here is the problem, most of the time when I am on the computer, I am at work. I cannot have buckscoop open all the time thus I do not visit buckscoop while I am at work. When I have the RSS deal on, I get to see the deal "quietly" and I pop in whenever I find something interesting. For me the rss is more of a reminder than a detriment to visit the forum. Thats how I look at it anyway.

:D - naughty naughty. I guess the consolation is that any of the deals that get pushed to the front page will blast through the threshhold temp fairly fast.

LOL re visiting at work That is a problem I guess One thing to consider is that the deals only get on to the RSS when people vote on them and then you need to be in the forum to vote The chicken and then egg story

What do you think?
