am I being stupid or is the optus service limited to 64kb or 128kb ??

If you exceed your monthly data allowance, access will be speed limited to 64 or 128kbps depending on your plan until the end of the billing month.
That is only their capped rate when you use all your data allowance for the month.

I wouldn't recomend them at the moment, since they've implemented the system to count uploads to you monthly data allowance too. Better off with an ADSL provider at the moment.

But your upload is usually pretty small though - unless your a P2P junkie. Optus' prices seem to have come down quite a bit (:) purely an observation not a recommendation). Last time I priced one of their deals up it came out to $1200 a year.
