Avis: 1000 Qantas FF miles for adding GPS to profile

Posted By: gstok, posted 2008/07/18 15:45
It's rare to get free miles these days without a credit card. But this looks like an easy 1000 Qantas miles to me - no purchase required and doesn't look targeted.

Go to the link, fill in the form, and look out for 1000 miles in your account 4+ weeks later. You must be a member of Qantas FF and Avis. And ensure your Qantas FF details are in your Avis profile!

It will probably default GPS to your future bookings, but you can say no to it.

this is NOT a freebie. you have to be a Qantas Frequent flyer member that costs you $82.50. according to another forum, this offer might not be open for new members of Avis. by adding GPS to your profile, your rental will cost you $10.95 more per day. and only for the 1000 points that you get by travelling on even the shortest route on discounted economy with Qantas.

    Good for me - thanks

geo78, it does not cost you anything directly to gain the 1000 points so I believe that it IS a freebie. If you had to pay in some way to get the points (e.g. rent a car, buy an upgrade), then it would not be a freebie.

Your comment about Qantas membership is like saying an offer for a free car rental day is not valid because you have to pay for your license.

Adding GPS to your profile is a preference - it does not lock you into using GPS on every rental.

i didn't say your deal is not valid. i said it is not a freebie. ok. is not a freebie for at least 75% of the Australians (given that there are 5 million frequent flyer members).

Sorry mate but given that the freebie is for existing members of Avis and Qantas, then your arguments don't hold any weight. I clearly stated "You must be a member of Qantas FF and Avis". If those didn't hold true, then the freebie's not for you. Thanks anyway for the comments.

So if I become an Avis member, can I still claim the 1000 free Frequent Flyer points? I am already a Qantas FF.
