AmazonUK - Star Wars Blu-Ray - 9 discs, free cell, under $90 delivered.
Those who argue about who shot first, and start to go blue in the face about the sacrilege of Lucas daring to go back and make changes to the films... well look elsewhere. But. For everyone else, in a few weeks time all the movies are finally being released on Blu-Ray.
Order now, and you get: 'The Limited Edition Star Wars® Sentiype contains a unique 35mm film frame reproduced from the original film footage using state-of-the-art imaging and printing techniques. The film frame is mounted on premium quality paper and features original artwork from the Star Wars Blu-ray collection. Each Senitype is numbered for authenticity.'
Price for pre-orders is £67.49, inc VAT, with free delivery.
For those who hated the newer films, you can always just get the first three eg:
for about half the price, but you miss out on the cell and other extras.
Price on the site includes VAT. My invoice is showing £56.24 ie less 20%. All up, that means just under $90 (at current exchange rate) for the set, delivered. Can preorder it from JB for $119 (http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/dvd-genres/sci-fi-fantasy/star-wars-the-complete-saga-blu-ray/632224) or $121 from fishpond (http://www.fishpond.com.au/Movies/Star-Wars-Complete-Saga/9321337130460?cf=3&rid=101402925&i=2&keywords=star+wars). In both cases, higher price and no mention of the freebie cell being thrown in.
9 discs in total, each film has a disc, high def with 6.1 DTS sound. 40+ hours of special features on the remaining 3 discs. As much as I'm personally not a huge fan of the extras discs in general, the "Star Wars Spoofs (2011, Approximately 91 minutes)--The farce is strong with this one. Enjoy a hilarious collection of Star Wars spoofs and parodies that have been created over the years, including outrageous clips from Family Guy, The Simpsons, How I Met Your Mother and more. And dont miss Weird Al Yankovics one-of-a-kind music video tribute to The Phantom Menace." sounds good.
Lucas is 'known to be a perfectionist' - THX certification was created in '83 specifically for the third star wars film.... I'm looking forward to sitting back and watching the restored films on the big screen @ home with the sound turned up....
