I tried 3 different Big W's around Melbourne trying to find a copy of either Super Paper Mario or Mario Strikers without luck. Stock seems to extremely limited on most if not all of the titles advertised in this promotion.

Same, scoured around for MP 8 with no luck :(

Try taking your catalogue to EB, they price match.

That is a great idea Buzz or you could try Kmart and Target so they will usually price match with BigW too :)

As an example Target have MP8 and Super Paper Mario in their current catalogue for $79.
EB have them for $95 and $90 respectively.

EB games still seem very good each time I go in for a price match and seem to take my word for it. However, Target and K-Mart are getting more fussy. Used to have no problem but the last 2 times they were quick to point out that they'd need to ring to check if item in stock and also Target wanted the other store to be in the same shopping centre.

If K-Mart do price match remember they also have the policy of 10% off the difference as well ie. will price match and knock an extra 10% off the difference between their price and the cheaper one.

If you could price match with Kmart and get the 10% off that would be great :)

    Thanks Scatman :)

That's nuts - about the same shopping centre, I mean. I sometimes run into opposition in meeting online prices, and that price matching only applies to stores in my city. I think that the department stores are going to have to do a better job at clarifying and advertising their true price match policies. I have never had anyone say the store needed to be in the same centre; most of the time I want to price match it's to avoid another drive, another parking lot, another turn getting the kids in and out of car seats...

Target and KMart (and JB HiFi) and so on have often rung the other store. I'm pretty sure checking on availability and price is common practise up here.

Don't forget that smaller stores may also price match. I find asking nicely will get me a positive result most of the time, and those that respond negatively (not just a "no", but negatively) quickly go on my "stores not to bother going back to".

the cost usually depends on the game and its popularity Nod.

I agree Scarlet Rubies. It often depends on the store assistant too. One Harvey Norman wouldn't help us but another of their stores did with a recent purchase and didn't even check when I told them the low price, so you just have to be lucky I guess.

My worst complaint is with BIG W and their 'lowest price guaranteed'. Several times tried for a price match but item concerned was a discount off at another store and they pointed out their disclaimer on the wall that a % off doesn't count.

In my opinion they are not then the lowest price so false advertising.
I guess they can get away with anything with all these disclaimers, but only now shop there if there is a great bargain, and use K-Mart for my price matching.
