That's what i need. Wonder if there will be any left on the weekend....

The Black 1TB Essentials one ($249) looks a lot better than the one on offer. Probably the same drive under the hood though!
  • geo782008/07/21 15:42:18
might look better, but it's a plastic case vs a metal one for the one in this offer. and it's $50 more expensive.

Probably not golfy - I've seen officeworks chop and change the price on 1Tb drives regularly.

Interestingly - Western Digital dont list a 1 Tb externals on their site. Max size is 640Gb. Was trying to find out whether the base drives were identical but they dont have a whole lot of info on there about the nuts and bolts. Mostly just marketing fluff.

I see officeworks dont carry the Elements on the online site either. What is it with them......

  • geo782008/07/21 16:15:55

The only place I can find it is in the UK.

Maybe best to ring Officeworks to double check if they have this.

Going by another forum this catalogue is to go on sale 31/07/08

You can ask for a customer order using the product code (WDE1U1TBA) and pay the $199 upfront.

Pick up is when item arrives instore, I don't think they would allow you to take the item if it's instore now since the special states on the 31st July.

Any members been able to order this or buy and take home now?

according to the email reply I got from Officeworks:

This is a retail only line and is available from the 31/07/08. There is very little information as yet but from what I can gather it is a 1 TB Elements model. Please forward to me your postcode and I will provide you with a list of your local stores contact details for further confirmation.

I hope I have been of assistance and please let me know if I can be of further help.

    Kind Regards

    Still ugly. :)

Still better to get the LaCie for $199, minus 10% if you got a targeted voucher.
