New iPhone (v3) is released in June/July, I can't believe they are still flogging these things off on $79 contracts for 24 months.

I expect a sale on iPhones around May or early June, Free on a $49 cap or something, to flog off old stock before the new model launches. AT&T did a big sale in the states before iPhone (v2) launched.

Depends when the new models will arrive in AU.

There doesnt seem to be too many changes in V3. Sort of wonder whether its worth the bother. Think your right Joel. Expect the price to drop 25 -30 % over the next couple of months.

Apple is pretty committed to a unified product release, as shown when the iPhone 2 (3g) model launched in Australia the same time as the US/UK/EU. And Apple has previously stated that June/July is intended iPhone release time. They also aim for 1 new model every 12 months.

BTW all of the above info, is not contained in one nice easy press release, it's been picked up reading the mac rumour sites for months. Apple are very secretive.

I would advise fellow buckscoopers to wait, I know I am. The rumour is iPhone OS 3.0 (currently in the wild as beta) will be released at WWDC along with the new iPhone hardware. Rumoured to support video recording and a better camera. Some people are hoping for a faster processor (seems reasonable) and better GFX.

I thought the deal was quite good, I had the first iphone and upgraded to the 3g model, and it really wasnt worth it. No difference really at all. I doubt the new model will be any better! Id rather have this one on contract, than pay a fortune for the same features. Plus 3months free.

GPS & 3G seem like pretty major upgrades to me...

Do you have a vested interest in people taking up this vodafone offer? You seem like you're keen to move old units before the new better handsets drop. :whistling:

    Thanks Taskel,
I'm in the market for a new mobile. I'm with Telstra now and I'm going to mention this deal to them. Perhaps I can get them to at least offer something close to it. If not, I might switch to Vodafone. The 3 months free, which is worth $237.00 in real money terms is awesome. Pity there's no cashback, but still a great deal.

Once again Buckscoop helps save me money. What an awesome site.
