This has to be a mistake.. D-Link Dgs-3324Sr 24 Port Giga. Layer 3, 4 Port Mini Gbic @ Wyntec $3.30

Either they've missed a zero or they're playing silly buggers here.

This thing sells in the region of 3.5 grand or $135 depending on who your looking at. If anyone can wade in and tell me whats up with it then please do. From my limited knowledge of switches $3.30 is about the price you pay for a middie of Coopers not a 24 port switch.

Anyway - some details on it.

Definitely a mistake... (So, no vote from me. Sorry, mate!)

    How about a D-Link Ds-510P D-View 5.1 Professional Edition for $1.10?
    http://www.wyntec.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=2113

Or, for the same price, a D-Link Wireless Outdoor Access Point?
    http://www.wyntec.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=2181

I wonder, though, what happens if you do order?
  • elegantegotist2007/09/29 23:09:41
They will probably not honour it. But you never know, I remember Dell honouring the first 100 orders out of goodwill in a similar situation like this.
  • jayne2007/09/29 23:20:58
But you don't lose anything by giving it a go...
  • elegantegotist2007/09/29 23:22:19
Yeah definitely its worth a short.

Good stuff you two - be interesting to hear how it turns out.
  • Keeys2007/09/30 00:20:29

    ah the old E&OE trick!!!

    - from wikipedia
E&OE is an initialism standing for errors and omissions excepted. The phrase is used in an attempt to reduce legal liability for incorrect or incomplete information supplied in a contractually related document such as a price list, quotation or specification. It is often applied as a disclaimer in situations in which the information to which it is applied is relatively fast moving. In legal terms, it seeks to make a statement that information cannot be relied upon, or may have changed by the time of use.
E&OE is most commonly used in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and is less frequently used in other English speaking countries. It is also widely used in India.

  • nod2007/09/30 11:03:37
    A big fat oooooppppppssss there
Now way they will honour it me thinks
  • elegantegotist2007/09/30 11:09:00
Nice try everyone ! Hopefully out of goodwill they will honour the first 5 orders or something but that would be a heavy blow for them.
  • admin2007/09/30 11:22:34
What would have been good is if we'd managed to get 500 people to put in orders - it would have raised the possibility of them honouring the first few.

Anyway - bit of fun while it lasted.
  • Wally2007/09/30 13:52:08

    Dear customer

As you may be already aware of, there had been some data corruption in our system.
We apologize for this errors where 3-4 figures were changed to one figure and requested our customers to review the related items with correct price tag.

This order is now being cancelled and if you wish to buy the item at correct price, please kindly place the order again.

Once again we apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you for your patience and understanding

    Kind regards
    Deanna (Sales)

had an uncle who whenever he saw this on quote, and when accepting the quote would write E&OE on each acceptance.

Raising the issue if I make an error like missing their error or their E&OE etc.

Never found out (as he died 20 years ago) how effective this was, but was always amused by it. It did imprint on my brain the E&OE concept and to be aware of it.

although you mght have got away with it if you were the only order. Having a large number of orders for a low volume product, probably highlighted the problem.

Maybe next time, just order one, then when it's delivered, if the price still stays the same on the website, share the deal with others.

Just like the Centrebet deal. If I get my money and when I share about taht success with others, they will probably get flooded with applicants, and will they still be as generous?:whistling:
  • nod2007/10/04 09:03:08
It is a very good point Ozpete.
We would then need to organise a draw to work out in which order people purchased :D
