    and apparently if you have a hdd you can download the backwards compability pack for the xbox 360. So you are one step closer to a pro pack.

    I've heard there's a few workarounds to bring you up to a better kit. Thats the sort of stuff I love hearing about. Little backdoor workarounds that get you something better.

    maybe you mean like this?

    This original post is from ecogamer.com

    skyline_boy001, a member from the PALGN( http://palgn.com.au/posting.php?mode=quote&p=423268 ) forums put together a really good recommendation for those looking for the equivalent of an Xbox 360 Pro. It turns out to be much better than the current Big W deal. The total for an Xbox 360 'Pro' comes to $285 which is better than the $356.84 via the Big W method. Read the full article for the guide.

    If you want an Xbox 360 Pro Console dont do this lame build your own kit from scratch BS by buying a 20gb HDD and an XBOX 360 Arcade Console from BIG W.

    * Go to EB Games and purchase a fat PS2 for $85 http://ebgames.com.au/PS2/product.cfm?ID=7
    * Then got to DSE and purchase 10 x $5 PS2 games
    * Be sure to ensure the games you purchase are not on the exclusion list
    * Then take the PS2 and 10 games to GAME and traded it in along with $150 and you will receive a Xbox 360 Pro Console.

    Walk out with your newly acquired heater that will keep you warm in the winter.

    * PS2 $85
    * 10 PS2 Games @ $5 each $50
    * XBOX 360 PRO $150
    * TOTAL $285

    Though you will not receive a 256mb unit and 5 Arcade Games. As opposed to the BIG W method

    * XBOX 360 Arcade Console $278
    * 20GB HDD $78.84
    * TOTAL $356.84

    Now by doing this I believe you will not receive a

    * Chrome Face or chromed faceplate something like that
    * Headset
    * Ethernet Cable
    * SD/HD AV Cable
    * Backwards Compatibility

    The clear winner is the first method. Of course it all depends on the availability of the games at DSE and the console at EB but do remember even if you were to purchase $10 PS2 games you will still be saving money even if you purchase $12.50 games you will be losing ~$5, though for that $5 you get some extras.

    :D :D - classic. Love it. Very smart. This is the second thing I've seen recently that took advantage of the EB Games offers.

    Just a little advice/warning, if you do manage to get one of these $10 vouchers at the bottom of your recipt dont tear it off, you need to take the whole recipt in for it to be valid then the checkout girl/boy will tear it off and keep the bit she/he needs and the rest goes back to you.
    I tried to use one last year and i tore off the offer and they wouldnt accept it without the full docket intact.
    Just thought id share so nobody is dissapointed.

    Great advice Michelle. I am sure I have always torn mine off. I won;t now, especially since it is so little time between the earning period and the spending period.
