Just signed up for this one! I've been looking for a new websaver type account for a while & this sounded pretty good. Quite easy to do too. Now I just need to get some savings into it :)
• lilpretzel2009/06/05 22:14:15
You can always transfer your Buckscoop cashback into it ;)
• nlafanclub2009/06/05 22:46:34
Sounds Goooooood! :p
• pwtang82142009/06/05 23:54:53
Just wondering, is the cashback for new accounts only? It only says specifically that the variable interest offer is for new accounts. Thanks.
• lilpretzel2009/06/06 05:10:41
Yes, new accounts only which are completed wholly online.

You must click through one of Buckscoop's cashback links to open an account.

There is also this offer - St George Credit Cards = $75 for each approved Vertigo or Platinum credit card application.

:)

Thanks. Although it's not too unheard of for Gold/Platinum cards to waive the first year annual fee.

Just a note on this offer

DO NOT apply for this offer more than once. We are checking these transactions and ALL multiple transactions will be declined. No exceptions.
These financial offers are great but if they are misused we will lose them so please read the admin warnings and information about these offers before signing up
Thanks
• hellwolf2009/06/07 16:10:13
I've just applied. Need to find a statement to send to them now.
• lilpretzel2009/06/07 19:02:31
Make sure the statement is less than 6 months old ;)
• nlafanclub2009/06/07 19:17:49

Bonsoir lp and/or nod.

Just a question on the above point in relation to this particular deal.

Whilst you do apply for the account entirely online, if you do not already have a std St George account to link to (ie if your normal account is with another bank), then you have to post or fax a "proof of ownership" form (along with a bank statement) to St George so they know the acc you're linking to is yours.

It's not specifically part of creating the a/c, but the account can't be used without it, so it does mean doing something offline. Does this mean it can't be tracked & therefore won't earn the cashback?

I ask for 2 reasons:

1) I noticed that it didn't appear to be tracking for me (currently only 77c on my tracking - I'm such a big spender ), which I originally put down to setting the account up so close to a weekend
&
2) if it can't be tracked in that circumstance, then people considering this account who aren't already with St George, need to be aware they won't be eligible for the cashback.

Thanks :)

nla
• lilpretzel2009/06/08 21:55:11
That's perfectly fine nla, you had to do that with the other bank offers but great point to raise ;)

Can you please check your earnings again, if it tracked correctly it should show St George in the list.
• nod2009/06/08 22:47:33
Sorry we were a bit late in replying NLA
This should be fine as LP has stated above. Most bank accounts will require some form of verification like this so as long as the actual application was completed online then the transaction should track

We have seen St George transactions tracking so we know the system is working

As always if after 14 days your transaction has not appeared in your earnings. Please generate a transaction enquiry
• nlafanclub2009/06/09 00:25:30
Merci, chères dames

I'll keep an eye out & see how it goes.

(ps - I can't actually speak or read french, but I do have far too much access to yahoo's bable fish site)

;)
• jennkei2009/06/14 21:04:20
Ehe, just when I thought it wasn't tracking! :) (Checked the page and it was on the list.) I'm considering getting a transaction account with St George too. Will send off my verification for my current non-St-George account tomorrow. (Any idea when I should expect it to start tracking as a positive amount instead of 0 after that happens..?)

Thanks. :)
• lilpretzel2009/06/14 21:36:28
Welcome to Buckscoop jennkei,

If it's still tracking at $0 after 14 days you can generate a transaction enquiry as this is a new merchant we don't have a tracking history :)
• denis72009/06/17 00:05:47
Looks that they remove the offer/server was down.. coz when I click "apply now buttom" I get error message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Any advice?
• Wormetti2009/06/17 02:53:52
Their sign up webpage goes down sometimes but it worked when I tried it now. It says the Direct Saver offer is valid until June 30th. It doesn't mention the $31 but that is normal.

Seems to be working fine now ;)
• BuckscoopBetty2009/06/17 11:28:29
Just an update on the transactions tracking at $0. The network is aware of the error and they assure us they will have it fixed by month's end. If still showing as $0 after 30 June please generate a transaction enquiry :)
• pmmehta222009/06/18 12:59:41
Hi, I am an exsiting 'Direct Saver' account holder with St George (which I havent open using Buckscoop) but I was thinking to take the benefit of high interest rate and would like to open a new 'Direct Saver' joint account with my wife. Am I still eligible for cash back and higher interst rate?
• BuckscoopBetty2009/06/19 12:27:48
Hi Pmmehta, just seeking further clarification regarding that and will get an answer for you shortly. We have to be careful of any offers from financial institutions as if we are seen to be misusing them, we will lose them. :)
• BuckscoopBetty2009/06/22 14:42:35
Hi Pmmehta, sorry for the delay in reply. Under the terms of the campaign it is limited to 'new customers' only. :)
• dwproctor2009/06/26 21:37:30
thx Betty for the update i sent an enquiry email to you and then found this on the forum. it does not show at this stage in my earnings to track it.

*** BUCKSCOOP Please be advised i am NOT trying to claim multiple offers but i will re-apply to see if it appears in my earnings as $1 ***

I WILL ONLY CLAIM ONCE AS THIS IS FAIR AND IT IS NOT IN MY EARNINGS At the MOMENT.

So since it ends 30 June I will try again. As far as i can tell it will only work when St George process the paper work and the account is opened and you get confirmation back. I am not sure why it is not in my earnings as $1 tho? at the moment.
• dwproctor2009/06/26 22:03:48
well i went through the process again and now have applied twice but it does not show up in earnings as $1
• dwproctor2009/06/26 22:12:11
ok so it looks i now have four possible transactions i will only persue one. sorry for the hassles it looks like it is in the system somewhere just not showing up on earnings?

New Earnings Enquiry

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want to enquire about a transaction that has not yet been reported, please select the appropriate date and time.
Eligible account activity records for St George Direct Saver (Merchant ID 4805):

Date Amount Commission Status Select
25 Jun 2009 17:50:54 - - -
26 Jun 2009 21:40:04 - - -
26 Jun 2009 21:40:38 - - -
26 Jun 2009 21:58:41 - - -

I did one tonight and i can only guess the one that went thru and should be processing to the earnings area is the one i did last night on the 25 june?
• nlafanclub2009/06/26 23:10:46
I've just done a transaction enquiry for this also, as it's now been 20 days since I did my application & it still hasn't tracked. I also just tried to log in to internet banking using all the details they sent me (on the letters saying I was now registered for internet banking) and that hasn't worked either, so perhaps there are a few problems with this one.

I shall wait and see...
• dwproctor2009/06/29 16:21:00
needs to have been opened by end of month. St George still processing the application so i will not be persuing it.
• BuckscoopBetty2009/06/29 22:59:41
Hi dwproctor

Re your account needing to be opened by the end of the month, that is for the current interest rate. Enjoy a fixed 1.30% p.a. above the standard Direct Saver variable rate (3.20%p.a. on 14th April 2009), for 4 months when you open a Direct Saver account before 30 June 2009.

The actual St George campaign is still going and cashback is still available :)
• bigal2009/06/30 10:17:20
Can I get some clarification please?

I understand that we shouldnt open multiple savings accounts to try and abuse the system but is applying for a savings and a credit card and receive 2 cash backs abusing the system as well?
• golfwidow2009/06/30 11:28:03
Bigal I don't see a problem with this as they are two different accounts but will get admin to look it up for you to make sure :)

Hi bigal, opening 1 savings account and 1 credit account is no problem, you would be entitled to both cashbacks :)
• bigal2009/06/30 13:20:37
Thanks for the quick reply
• nod2009/06/30 16:46:43
Hi Bigal
No that should be fine. :)
• lilpretzel2009/07/02 09:30:52
Mine is now showing up with $31.00 cashback.

:)
• melscott282009/07/07 21:01:52
I applied for a credit card and was rejected but they didnt tell me!

I first found out when my buckscoop cashback was declined, so rang them up to ask if it was approved or not. Was dissapointed as i could of applied somewhere else instead of waiting for a reply that was never coming.
• BuckscoopBetty2009/07/16 19:06:37
St George have reinstated their promotional rate on the Direct Saver campaign back up to 4.50%

Details are:

A great variable rate of 4.50% p.a.*

Enjoy a fixed rate of 1.30% p.a. above the standard Direct Saver variable rate (3.20% p.a. of July 7th 2009), for 4 months when you open a Direct Saver account before 30 September 2009.
• ciciyang2009/07/20 22:16:33
Okay. I have a problem. I tried to open the direct saver account. I filled in all the details and everything, but when I got to the SUBMIT page and pressed the submit button, it took way too long to submit. I pressed it another 2 times, but nothing happened. After waiting about fifteen minutes and still nothing happening (just kept saying waiting for the st george website), I closed the application thinking it didn't submit. I then got an email with a reference number for me to check the status of it, but the number and password I put in didn't work. I do want this account, but I don't know what will happen if I try to do another one. I was going to give it a few days to see if the account shows up, but if not, I was going to redo it. Will this affect my cashback? I just don't want it to be a big problem later on.
• admin2009/07/21 17:34:31
hard to say definitively ciciyang, but I'd try again and treat it as if you were doing it for the first time. Make sure you click through on the link to activate the cookie. If there's a problem with the tracking, wait a while and submit an earnings enquiry to here with all the details.
• ciciyang2009/07/22 10:45:44
Thanks admin. The account showed up today, so now I'm waiting for it to show up on Buckscoop as well. Is it meant to show up automatically or does that take a few days? I'm worried that I did it wrong. I clicked the link from the first page in this thread and followed the links that way. Is that correct?
• lilpretzel2009/07/22 11:20:42
Hi ciciyang, some merchants can show up within minutes others take longer... I think mine took 1 day.

If it doesn't show up within the next 14 days please generate a missing transaction enquiry :)

Hi hartraft, you can always generate a ticket enquiry here to follow up on your declined transaction, if you are unsure as to why it has occurred. :)

I applied for a direct saver a while ago through buckscoop and thought it was an awesome deal, now it ends up being that my ticket was unsuccessful. :( what a shame
• ciciyang2010/05/14 10:34:47
Sofetch-- ME TOO!!!!!!!! Very upset by it. I am now dealing with St. George directly. I asked them how they think I set up the account if not through Buckscoop. They've taken three weeks to not get back to me. WONDERFUL!
• kickling2010/05/14 11:57:21
Just FYI - I am a member of BankSA, which is owned by Westpac, the same as St. George.

When I applied, I successfully got the bank account but it was just added to my list of accounts when I login to my BankSA internet banking.

This means no cashback for me ;-( ... just some info for those interested who already own BankSA/Westpac/StGeorge accounts.
• starlancer2010/05/14 13:07:23
They rejected my transaction enquiry as well! Seems like St George is taking us for a ride, open the accounts through buckscoop and then just reject the transaction so that they dont have to pay... it like free ads campaign for them..... i am just going to close my account with them now
• nimbin2k2010/05/14 14:42:34
Rejected me as well... big thumbs down! I'm going to close my account with St George and seriously think twice about banking with them ever again if these are the sorts 'promotions' they run.
• Wormetti2010/05/14 16:21:52
I got paid 07 Sep 2009. It sucks that they didn't honour it for everyone.
