:) - the key word being variable. Jeeze thats a high rate. Shame its not fixed.

$100,000 would get you $144 for a week at that rate.

You've got $100,000 sitting in a savings account? I'd say congrats, but I'm just mentally erasing all those noughts and comparing my savings account!!!
  • admin2008/02/05 20:05:36
    :D $0.0144 per week
  • ScarletRubies2008/02/05 20:11:05
Thanks for that - you're all heart!
  • trevorf2008/02/05 20:28:01
Variable is somewhat good, since there is still room for higher. The highest you can get for savings is like 8.00% or maybe a bit more. Rabo is always among the top anyway, and they seem pretty secure, so I'm sticking with'em.

I think it's very strange that they still haven't advertised this even on their own website. But they have been known for doing that in the past.

If you're looking at a higher rate (which of course comes with a higher risk), then investing into such companies as City Pacific Pty Ltd, for example into their premium investment or income account might be an option. But I guess if you've got the money, a financial adviser is your best bet.

Although this may just be the latest RBA rise being passed on - just that Rabo and Bankwest seem to do this immediately vs our lovely Aussie banks delaying it for a few months. no wonder people move to these overseas controlled banks.

And then there's Woolies and Coles vs Aldi - Makes you proud to be Australian????
  • airpoe2008/02/06 10:01:41
They are one of the best but, RBA raised it by 0.25% but Rabo went up by 0.15%

I'm waiting for Bankwest & HSBC to see what they offer, before I move my parents savings!!

  • airpoe2008/03/04 19:59:27
So only up by 15 basis points!!

Not happy, thats what happened last time until Bankwest west up by .25 then Raboplus went up to 7.15%

HSBC went up to 7.25 last week but unlikely to go up anymore.

Members Equity is 7.5%, will it go up!!
  • port2008/04/16 16:51:11
To answer your question, yes, it has gone up. Just got an e-mail, the rate is now 7.8%.
