Optical4less - Two prescription glasses delivered for USD$30

Sale on at the moment with selected frame & lens packages starting at $15. About half their normal price. International shipping is free if you order two or more pairs of glasses - so, for USD$30 you should be able to get two pairs of prescription glasses. Price includes frame and Hi-Index 1.56 lenses and:
- FREE Anti-Reflective coating
- FREE UV protection coating
- FREE Anti-Scratch Hard Coating
- FREE Colorful , Stylish Eyeglasses Hard Case
- FREE Quality glasses Cleaning Cloth
They also appear to have a sense of humour as they say they also come with:
- Beautiful used HongKong stamps

The $15 jobs are all full frame, semi-rim jobs start at $19. Titanium & rimless start from $49. Extra $35 to go with either the thinner & stronger 1.6 polycarb or 1.67 even thinner lens.

An alternative to http://www.zennioptical.com/, in particular given that the cheapest Zenni glasses ($9) do not include anti-reflective coating (+$4.95) plus Zenni charge $4.95 shipping & handling per order.

Again, as with Zenni or clearlycontacts etc - these are at least a great option for backup glasses to keep in the car etc in case you break/lose your normal pair. If you intend to wear them all the time and/or you lead a fairly rough life (sport, have kids, etc) I'd suggest forking out the extra $35 and going for the stronger polycarb option as they are not only thinner and lighter but also virtually impossible to break.

There's been a few posts for glasses from offshore suppliers across the years. Reports have been good. Quick delivery, good price etc.

In the past I've probably been spending on average around the $400 to $500 mark for a pair of glasses. After private health cover the cost usually drops to $200 or so but even then it hurts - in particular when you think how much they must actually cost. The markup must be massive - and this is proven by the existence of places like these that offer similar, or the same, items for a tenth the price. Even the likes of "specsavers" with two pairs for $199 seem inflated. I'd normally replace my glasses/frames every other year but now I know about these, I'll probably do it more frequently! I might not be able to get anything back from Medibank Private but I'll still be way ahead.

Some of the online guys work on a 70% net profit for sales through their websites - so yea the markups are significant.
