Just noticed that the price of Apples ipods have dropped by about 20% in the last couple of days - I had an item in my shopping cart on monday - it has now disappeared (to my good luck) so I can get the Ipod Touch I wanted for 20% less - and it looks like there are a few updates.....anyone in the market for an ipod???

Sorry, but this is not a deal.

Apple announced new products a few days ago, so some of the newly released products have had price changes. Refurb prices may have dropped slightly.

Apple deals posted here right now should be for particular discontinued models being reduced at Apple's website (not happened) or in stores (not seen yet).

e.g. in the US, the iPod Classic 80Gb is in the Clearance section on the Apple website. But it's NOT in Australia.

The only reason I put it as a deal was for people who might unknowingly be buying the older models at the old price - I almost did since I saw it in Kmart at 389 on special yesterday arvo - went back to the website and found it at 319 for the newer (2nd gen) model.
It was a deal for me - sorry if it didn't look like a deal to you, gstok!

hi again dilipsea. It's OK, not attacking you personally.

The information is fine, but in my opinion it's not a deal as such and is posted in the "Hot Deals" forum. The problem is that you're saying a newer item is cheaper than an older item. This isn't considered a deal because they're different products.

If you saw that the older item had been reduced in price because the newer item came out, that's a deal. You would then tell us exactly which model, which colour, where you saw it, and what price for. For example if you went to KMart Richmond and they had iPod Classic 80Gb Silver at $199 then you definitely found a deal (since it used to retail for $100+ more), and we'd love to hear it. ;)

You also linked to the Apple store, so it's assumed the 'deal' is for the Apple website. As it stands the Apple website has no clearance deals.

I hope this helps as you continue to explore Buckscoop.

Specific items AND general sales/shopping tips are both useful "deals" to post, and it's the users of BuckScoop who will in the end decide what is a "hot deal" and what isn't. This kind of info is really useful to people shopping around, and the Hot Deals forum is where anything that isn't a freebie or comp winds up - even if you submit it as a "Tip". Until we separate "tips" from "deals", I think these kind of posts absolutely belong here...

Just another opinion from me (which was worth it, right? It took me about 30 minutes what with crying babies and all).
