JVC Everio Hybrid Digital Camcorder for $369

Doesn't seem to be a bad deal for a video camera - built in hard drive plus can record to SDHC card. 35x Optical Zoom.

Full description at the link, but basically:

# One touch upload to Youtube and export
# USB 2.0 High-speed transfer
# 1/6-inch 800k pixel CCD
# 60GB Internal Hard Disk Drive
# Up to 75 hr. of recording
# 14 hr. 20 min. of the best quality recording (ULTRA FINE)
# 35x Optical Zoom
# 800x Digital Zoom
# Memory Card Slot for microSD

I expect the model is being retired as it's in the "clearance" section at Officeworks - but even then it's still $535 (http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Digital-Cameras-and-Memory-Cards/Digital-Video-Cameras/JVGZMG630S)

Update: the camera seems reasonable but the price can be beaten online (eg $325.87 at http://www.einfotech.com.au/shop/product_info.php?products_id=6637 and a little more at http://www.portagadgets.com/australia/product.php?productid=35444). By the way, although it can take still photos, don't expect them to be anywhere near as good as a standard point and shoot - because of sensor size etc think mobile 'phone quality. It does have a nice fast lens (f1.8 when in wide angle - http://www.jvc-australia.com/JVCstores/PRODUCTS/458/ATTRFILE_File2/JVC%20Everio%20GZ-MG630S.pdf) so low light should be good....

I see Topbuy have the JVC Everio GZ MG630 Hybrid Digital Camcorder GZ-MG630 60GB Hard Drive and MicroSD MicroSDHC Video Camera - Silver for $381.20, not inc delivery. Silver only though. The colours are more expensive

I am guessing that the COTD model is the MG630? They don't actually say. Annoying

Ok I think the MG630 and the MG630S are the same. I can't find any difference with the stats really. Unless I am missing something. Some folk are selling the MG630S for $700 odd

I suspect that the "S" simply indicates it's Silver. Whatever the case, you can get the thing cheaper elsewhere..... plus on further consideration I would have to say that if I was buying a video camera now I'd probably want something that does 1080p..... not saying that this is a bad deal but I can understand why the price has dropped from the RRP of $749.

There's a fairly similar camera for sale here at the moment:
Catch Of The Day - One Deal, Everyday, Midday
    Sanyo Xacti VPC-TH1EX
No built in hard drive, but a better sensor - does 720p. $258....
