Thanks, normie, sounds a good deal.

Do you know do they just waive the 1st year's annual fees or waive the annual fees forever?

Wow, 2 days free hire sounds great! Will be useful for us next month for our US trip.

However they asked for my CC details... now I am a bit scared to join!

My understanding is you will receive 1 certficate for car rental in Aus or NZ and 1 certificate for car rental in USA or Canada, most car rental companies need a credit card when u rent, by already supplying Hertz with this you elimanate waiting at the counter and can simply pick up the car keys and drive away.

Good deal for $0 and worth picking up - not sure I'd be paying $60 for what they're offering though.

I wouldn't pay $60 but a free offer I would consider. 2 free rental days could get you up around the $60 mark. If you rent a lot of cars and the rewards program is decent it would be worth taking this offer up for free

I received my Gold Card today and the rental certicates, the certificates have a few conditions on them tho:
AUS/NZ Free rental - Min rental 2 consecutive days is required and rental must include a Saturday night keep. Expires 20 December 09

USA/Canada Free Rental - Min period of 5 consecutive days on Hertz affordable rates.
    Expires 20 December 09.

I rang them up last month and was told that they are no longer charging an annual fee for gold club membership.
