Some differences between the 2 cards depending on your needs.

Unfortunately I have been unable to ascertain if there is a annual fee. It is not listed here like it is normally and the Amex personnel over the phone say whatever is on the website / offer goes but for this card it is normally $192 I believe.

This an interesting offer at a time when the cost of home loans has certainly had an impact on a lot of families ... I have certainly seen my mortgage repayments jump over the last few months ... though we now have talk of a few rate cuts in the pipeline .. anyway.. If you are one who reads each and every word of every Terms and Conditions 'book' you come along, you will probably know this, but for those who just have a quick look over it...
IF YOU BREAK YOUR RABOPLUS TERM DEPOSIT ANYTIME BEFORE IT's MATURITY DATE, YOU WILL BE CHARGED AT LEAST A $25 FEE.
They charge a $25 base fee, plus whatever other fee they determine, most likely based on the initial deposit amount. I had a term deposit for $1500, among many, and had to break it because I urgently needed the money. So I thought that as with any other bank or other financial institution, they would just take away a small portion of the interest credited. NO, you end up losing money. For breaking a term deposit that was 2/3 completed, I was charged $25.49. They do credit you the interest you have earned, which in my case was close to $19, so I actually ended up $7 out of pocket, after they had $1500 of mine for several months.
Absolutely shocking. I've never seen anything like it.
