Expedia price promise - find it cheaper get $1 off the cost + $50 voucher - how to work it

This is worth a play I reckon. Expedia has put out a price promise on their 'special deals' section. Basically if you find the same hotel room at a cheaper price using the exact same days, people, room type etc they will beat the better price by $1 and give you a $50 voucher for your next expedia purchase. I've had a troll around on a couple of the prices and I can find the same room for a couple of the hotels at the same price but not 'better'.

I am a member of Priority Guest and I can get a room cheaper at Rydges website, Rydges Camperdown:

    Rydges: $171.00 for 30 July 2011
Expedia: 181.00 for the same night

Do I qualify for this ?

    unfortunately, i don't think so.

Comparison Rates Must Be Available to the General Public Online. The Expedia Price Promise applies only to prices both advertised and available to the general public on an English-language website. For example, this does not include rates offered on membership program websites, corporate discounts or rates; group, charter, rewards program, incentive, meeting, convention, consolidator or interline prices; prices obtained via auction or similar process; or prices available only by using a coupon or other promotion not offered to the general public.

No - the terms and conditions state that it must be an apples for apples comparison in the sense of the price must be bookable without membership or promotional discounts of that nature.

    any reply from expedia?

No reply from expedia as you need to book the hotel first and then call them with the details within 24 hours but what you've found meets my criteria so I'll get $50 topped up into your buckscoop account.

I wanted largely to know how easy it would be to work the price promise out of expedia. Didnt take you long to find a better rate so it means that its worth checking if your making a booking as you should be able to get the $50 + $1 off from expedia.

I was just reading in the terms and conditions that they limit redemptions to max 3 per month per person. Am chuckling away - if you were doing business bookings or something like that you could quite easily get yourself $150 in vouchers from expedia.

I've taken our $50 offer the main deal but I'm still tempted to say that we will give $5 (per example) to anyone who comes up with more examples where the rate elsewhere is cheaper.

This is a scam! hotelclub has a 24 hour sale on the hotel atlantis in melbourne, rang expedia to price match and although same room and same hotel they couldnt price match because

    - hotel name was different, atlantis hotel as opposed to best western atlantis hotel (even though same address)

    - The cancellation policies of the two sites were different

    - The booking fees and charges of the two sites are different (even though hotel club was probably cheaper again in this respect)

They even queried that the names of the rooms were slightly different, even though the same room type.

Based on this i would feel it is pretty impossible to get any kind of price match with these guys
