Ensure your BUCKSCOOP CASHBACK track EVERYONE PLEASE READ - VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!

Posted By: nod, posted 2007/06/07 05:44
Buckscoop is all about getting you guys a good deal and also about the cashback you can receive from certain merchants when you make a purchase!

Tracking your purchase and ensuring that the transaction is assigned to you the user is a step wise process which sadly can go wrong.

So, I just thought I would pop up a link to our Help section (click on 'GOT TO DEAL'). The help section gives details info about what you can do to vastly improve the odds that your transactions will track successfully.

PLEASE have a read of the information. If you have any questions pop them into the Comments and Site tips section or you can pop a question in this thread.
Or another option is you can hit the contact us button and raise a question in the ticketing system

Now you have read the HELP section here are some important points:

1.Clearing your cookie cache before you click though to make purchase via Buckscoop is a very very good idea in fact highly recommended!!!!
2. Make sure your security settings allow cookies
3. Make the purchase in one step - don't flick through several sites during the purchase process
4. Before you make your first purchase it is always a very good idea to make a small purchase to check and make sure that all is going to plan
5. Many merchants will not payout on transactions in which a discount code has been used.
6. If there is a problem with your cashback DO NOT CONTACT THE MERCHANT DIRECTLY REGARDING YOUR BUCKSCOOP CASHBACK. THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSISST YOU IN YOUR TRANSACTION ENQUIRIES DIRECTLY

And I highly recommend you have a read HERE

Taking the time to set everything up means a much higher success rate for your transaction tracking which makes everyone happy.

But if at any time you have a question of a problem then please do not hesitate to contact us and we shall do the best that we can to sort it out for you :)

And one other important thing PLEASE keep all email correspondence from the merchant regarding your transactions until the cashback amount has been paid into your account. This means that if anything does go awry and we need to chase the transaction for you with the merchant then we have all the information we need. I recommend all members keep a 'Buckscoop' email folder and as soon as the emails appear file them away and at the end of each month check them off once you have been paid.

I like to be helpful :)

Thought it was time again that this appeared up on the front page.
Please have a read if you have not already. We really want to be able to give you your cashback and the best way to dramatically increase your odds is to follow the steps outlined in the help section. Click on 'Go To Deal' and you are there.

Merchants can be great. But if there is a problem with the tracking of a transaction, and they think they can get away with not paying out the cashback they will. They are in business after all.

If anyone has any questions or problems, just submit a query via the ticketing system.

thanks
Nod

In the same vein this is very important:

Please please please keep all emails and correspondence/invoices for Buckscoop transactions until you have been paid your cashback

If we need to raise an enquiry with the merchant because your transaction has not tracked we need ALL the information we can gather about the transaction and the times/dates that you corresponded with the merchant. The more information we have the greater chance of a successful transaction enquiry

Hi,

I'm a newbie and just wanted to know how to confirm my Buckscoop transaction has worked. I've looked though the Help section but couldn't find it. I've made all the suggested Firefox settings adjustments but I do have a Linksys router I'd rather not turn off entirely. As far as I can tell I don't have any port or cookie blocking switched on in the router itself.

Thanks,
Corine

If you follow the guidelines, which you have already read and complete your transaction immediately in the same session and wholly online, you should have a successful cashback tracking.

Some merchants take a few days to track some will track within hours.

My order from dStore the other day tracked within minutes.

Thanks Lilpretzel. How do the merchants track the transaction though?
• nod2008/02/24 15:47:01
Hi there Peppingc
And Welcome to Buckscoop :flowers:

Basically what happens is when you click through a Buckscoop link for a particular merchant you pick up a cookie as you are taken to the merchants site. If you then make a purchase with that merchant the cookie records your unique Buckscoop user ID, your sale reference number and the total of your transaction. Once the sale has been validated by the merchant you are then credited with the cashback for that sale
The $ amount of cashback varies between merchants, as does the time it takes for the transaction to appear in your earnings.

Click on the 'new users' link in my siggie and that will give you a bit more detail. But if you have any questions, please be sure to ask away :)

Thanks Nod :). I've made the transaction on the Dell site now. Is it safe to restore my browser security settings now?
• nod2008/02/24 16:24:38
Yep :)

With Dell I 100% recommend that you use a separate browser ie have a dedicated browser for Buckscoop. Do all your price comparison and messing around on the site in one browser eg IE then make the purchase using Firefox - making the sale steps as simple as possible.
This further reduces risk of untracked transactions

Thanks Nod. I did it this way:-

cleared all my cookies & cache,

adjusted other settings as per the guide,

signed into Buckscoop,

went to the Dell Small Business link,

selected item,

completed transaction
That's about as direct as you can get, I didn't do any other shopping around. Fingers crossed now!
• nod2008/02/25 10:39:38
Sounds good :)

When you are making a big purhcase it is worth taking that little bit of extra time too minimise any problems with the tracking :)
• peppingc2008/02/27 22:25:43
Just wondering how long should it normally take for a Dell transaction to track? I've received delivery of my monitor today (ordered on Sunday) yet I still have no earnings or any record of the transaction. I don't want to raise a ticket if it takes some time, just need an indication of how long to wait before hitting the alarm bell.

Cheers,
Corine
• nod2008/02/28 00:45:52
Hi Corine
I would recommend you wait 2 weeks and if it has not appeared then raise a ticket :)

OK no worries. Do Dell ever pay these as a direct discount to the customer at order time rather than as a rebate?
• nod2008/02/28 20:05:32
No they don't as that is not how it all works.

Have a read here. It explains a bit more about how the whole thing works

hi there buckscoopers

I am newish and it doesn't seem to track for me??

any ideas?
• nod2008/03/27 18:56:56
Hi Winniblue... Welcome to Buckscoop

My apologies for your question not being answered before. Very rude of us :o

There are a number of different reasons that transactions will not track. And it is important that you have your computer set up so that we can minimize the risk of untracked transactions.
To get started I recommend that users new to Buckscoop have a read of the links I have listed below:
New Users Guide
Getting Started

With regards to the tracking if you have made a purchase and within 14 days your transaction is not appearing in your earnings then we recommend you generate an earnings enquiry ticket.

Once we have the ticket enquiry then we can chase it up with the merchant :)
• nod2008/05/07 20:42:46
The start of this thread has been updated with a bit more info
Please have a read everyone and ask any questions that you may have :)
• bigal2008/05/07 22:55:12
would it be possible to set up a test site that will test if a tracking cookie is working? if so, it might even be able to confirm if it worked or not.
• nod2008/05/08 00:08:27
mmmmm.... something we can talk about to our tech guys I guess.
The easiest way for each member to check their tracking is to either make a small purchase or try one of the merchants that only require a click thru. For example:

Mysecretsound

Deals Direct also have pretty reliable and fast tracking so you could always make a small purchase with them to check your tracking

Hi,

I used my Nokia N95 internet to purchase a laptop and went through buckscoop but it doesn't appear to have tracked correctly.

Can you confirm whether it works for phone transactions ie. internet transactions that are completed via the internet on a phone?

Thank you.

Kind regards,
Mark

PS. Great site, one of my favourites.
• nod2008/08/04 20:50:34
Great to hear that we are one of your favourites Mark

I can't see why the transaction would go thru on your phone if your N95 can record cookies. It needs to be able to set a cookie to login to Buckscoop
I dont know a lot about the N95 to be honest

I will see what I can find out for you but be sure to generate an enquiry ticket so that we can chase the transaction up for you :)
• AussieMarkMelb2008/09/17 14:32:08
Fantastic,

I submitted a ticket and it was just approved. Very happy about this and the great level of support from Naomi and the buckscoop team.

It was for a laptop so a larger sum than normal.

Just brought the Asus on catch of the day today through buckscoop too!

All this talk about clearing the cache & cookies..... Can this please be explained & instructions given - I am not so good with the tech side of computers.... TA
• lilpretzel2008/11/14 15:37:20
The instructions for clearing the cache and cookies may be different for each browser and version.

Here are the steps for several commonly used browsers and versions.

To get started, select the browser you're using:

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Tip To find the version, in Internet Explorer, click "Help," and then click "About Internet Explorer."
If you don't see the "Help" menu, press "Alt" to show the menus.

Cache.

First try clearing the browser cache for the version you're using:

Internet Explorer 7.x

1. Click the Tools menu. If you don't see the menu, press Alt button on your keyboard to show the menus.
2. Select Delete Browsing History.
3. Click the Delete files button.
4. Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.
5. Click the Close button.

Note: It can take several minutes for the cache history to be deleted.

Internet Explorer 6.x

1. Click the Tools menu.
2. Select Internet Options.
3. Click the General tab.
4. Click the Delete Files button.
5. Click the OK button in the confirmation window.
6. Click the OK button to close the 'Internet Options' window.

Note: It can take several minutes for the cache history to be deleted.

Cookies.

If clearing the cache doesn't fix the problem, next you may want to try clearing the browser cookies.

Important!
While deleting the browser cookies may fix the problem, it also removes your saved settings for sites you've previously visited.

Internet Explorer 7.x

1. Click the Tools menu. If you don't see the menu, press Alt button on your keyboard to show the menus.
2. Click the Delete cookies button.
3. Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.
4. Click the Close button.

Internet Explorer 6.x

1. Click the Tools menu.
2. Select Internet Options.
3. Click the General tab.
4. Click the Delete Cookies button.
5. Click the OK button in the confirmation window.
6. Click the OK button to close the 'Internet Options' window.
