Read the banner a bit closer :D 10% already off. From my checking:
20" Imac is a decent buy
Apple MacBook 13" 2.0GHz is decent with the 160gb hard drive and this is the latest version with the sexy one piece machined casing ;)
The air prices don't dazzle me though

Airs are for those people with spare cash to burn...

    :w00t: you dont like em?

not really, not enough expansion options for me... every port of my MBP has something plugged into it!

if i had the spare cash, i'd get a Mac Pro...

after that, if i had really won the lottery i'd think about an Air, but only if i felt like i needed to be on the road with a laptop a lot...

you might find a dse bargain ;)

btw, the DSE online store is a bit whacko... it lists some models more than once, once at RRP and another with the special price...

haha, don't have the spare cash, and if i did it would going towards a flash electronic drum kit! and i don't think DSE sell Mac Pros...

Rumour has it that the iMac's are getting a refresh (upgraded to similar GFX specs as the new unibody Mac Book Pros), So I'd say you're better off waiting.

Even if you want an old model, the Apple store will be doing them in the refurb section for better than 10% off, after the new models drop.

I'll give you a hot eggles - not that often you get a 10% off deal on apples.

Expansion in terms of plugging other bits and pieces into them isnt too bad - you can always run a USB hub or something. Sometimes little things like the lack of an audio input jack is annoying when your talking on skype. The changes mac keep putting into the DVI/VGA adapters on the machine end is !*&^*&^ annoying because you cant just grab someone elses when your caught short. Battery life sucks. If you build a highly portable machine make sure the thing can live for hours and hours off its life support. The basic spec they put in the machine is borderline. Once you load it to the hilt with applications and data it can get pretty klunky, running video out through an external monitor is pretty crappy (just dual screening them is fine though) even with the upgraded video card.

Apart from fairly small annoyances - if your mobile a lot and mainly just using them for basic work - they're fantastic, but yea they're pretty specialised to just that sort of application. The Macbooks are in my opinion a hell of a lot better value for money.

Yea - there's some good buys pop up in there.

I see they're claiming an 8hr battery life on the new MBP's these days.....

so in real life 5 effective hours - not bad for a lump of a machine.

well, i'm bummed out that the new MBPs only have a single firewire port...

i currently have a mini-constellation of eSATA, FW400 and FW800 devices plugged into my MBP mothership, as well as a USB hub and various USB devices...

and i have some USB devices that are USB1.1, and they slow the whole USB bus down to a painful crawl...

Yeah I agree with Admin, 10% off is a pretty good deal eggles. Macbook & Macbook Pro are the best deals to be had here.

Just wanted to make everyone aware of the new iMac's that are coming soon.

More to add to the imminent mini/imac release rumours ....

Laughing at the MBP mothership reference fishmonkey. They're a bit that way arent they. Very good machines but more lump than lap.

  • joelwilliam2009/04/10 11:50:51
