Dick Smith - New Year Deals. eg Two 4GB Sandisk USB flash drives for $15

A number of reasonable deals in the new catalogue. The two 'brand name' 4GB keys for $15 stand out (look like the "blade" version - in which case likely to be almost pure plastic but solid, and not super fast write speed but ok read speed, so handy to have in the laptop bag etc), but you can also get a Virgin 3G dongle for $49 (which includes 4GB valid for 30 days) or a Voda dongle for $99 that includes 15GB data valid for 365 days (check your coverage where you plan to use them, though).

Oh, just spotted that for $59 you can get a 320GB WD portable hard drive with free delivery when you buy online. It comes with a bonus docking station 'valued at $49.99'. So effectively the hard drive costs $9.01 - if you were going to also buy the dock, of course... ;-)

If you don't want the dock, office works were clearing these for $48.

Nice find. Vodafone HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED -- I bought it, it has 5 bar signal strength and has errors, I've tried different dongles, I've gone to the city.. Doesn't work anywhere. It's horrible.

For what it's worth, a class action against Vodafone is here...

Personally I know some people who have never had any issues with VF (both for mobile as well as mobile broadband), and others who have had no end of grief with them. No idea why the variance other than the people with no issues happen to live/work in the right areas. If anyone is considering using them I'd suggest keeping receipts and making sure that if it doesn't work for you then you go back to the store asap and get a refund.
