Nearly as good as the 22" price - thanks sandgroper :)
what do they mean by 'entry wide' though?
  • sandgroper2007/05/22 21:07:32
E for entry or economy range, panels are not as high spec as the Ultrasharp range, though they dont carry the ultrasharp price tags either!
  • nod2007/05/22 21:21:09
Ah ok. Was the recent 22" an ultrasharp then?
And can you really notice the difference b/w the screens?

Oh yeah, the sharp is definitely very sharp. The recent 22" was the Economy range as well.

    Thanks Ashley
Picture quality is ok on the 22"?
  • sandgroper2007/05/22 22:53:20
22" has got quite a following due to its price point, the mag's seemed to like it too. Some have reported worse than expected backlite bleed on early panels but dell are as usual quite good with exchanging anything your not 100% happy with.

Its not bad. Its just like any other lcd, nothing special. Just bigger. I am sure not complaining for the price.
  • nod2007/05/22 23:11:13
No:D the price was awesome. I guess if you are just working on it then it would be fine. If you were using it for games or dvds etc then the difference would be more obvious

The 22" were terrible for backlight bleed and I ended up returning mine. I'd expect the same for the 20". If backlight bleed concerns you I'd avoid any 'entry' level Dell monitor - they're junk!
  • sandgroper2007/05/24 16:34:18
Thats a very broad statement gstok, you had 1 bad 22". Why didnt you ask dell for a replacement, they are really very good at keeping customers happy. The early first revision of the 22" did have some trouble with backlight bleed and I mentioned that further back in the thread, the later panels seem to be much better.
I have seen chat where guys have sat under blankets with the panel to try and find the bleed, I dont know too many users who use thear pc's while sitting under blankets ;-)

Welcome to Buckscoop gstok :flowers: and thanks for the feedback
Shame about the monitor. I do not have a lot of experience with Dell monitors. I have read about about the back bleed on other forums though. Most brands seem to pop up once a while when someone mentions it.
What did you replace your dell with?
  • jumpingjack2007/05/24 19:53:00
Did you get a replacement Dell gstok? I've heard of a few people who complained - got the replacement shipped but Dell didn't pick up the old one hehe ;)

I just clicked through, searched for that monitor, and it appears the price has been reduced by ~$20 and is now: $328.90 delivered!

    Even better value!!!

If anyone has bought this monitor and wants to comment on it, feel free!

No I have the 24" ulstrasharp, which I think is a different kettle of fish altogether.

ahhhh - ok - yep - reckon there'd be a slight difference there.
