Just a tip here for people posting Dell
When you browse the site it starts a session which times out up a cookie which means that we are unable to deep link at all with Dell - ie directly to the item.
But you can often go back a page and list that - which I have done here.

Awesome price for the monitor Vincent. Thanks very much for the code

    Same problem as you.
  • Netjock2007/04/29 22:43:23
ashley I tried also... you are probably in the small business part of the website.

change it to home/home office section and it will work.
  • sandgroper2007/04/29 22:51:04
Yes the BS link takes you to the small business site and the offer applies to the Home site so you do need to navigate to home before it will work, I just tried it and it does stick once you are on the home site.
  • ashley70702007/04/29 22:54:03

2 x 22" !!! Wow! They will look brilliant - are you going to run them side by side on a dual monitor system?! If you are, I'd love to see the setup... do you think you could take a pic when you get them up and running?
  • diider2007/04/30 20:12:47

  • ashley70702007/05/03 14:39:24
Has anyone received their screens yet?
  • nod2007/05/03 19:41:08
I did not order one but I have read on WP that there may be some 'issues' regarding the sale of this code on ebay. People have been receiving emails to say that their order was cancelled I think!
We know a few were ordered thru Buckscoop so would love to know if has anyone managed to receive the monitor or if they have receive a cancellation email?

Hey nod, can you please provide the WP link please. I have ordered mine and the estimated delivery date was today but did not receive it. They gave me a call but I missed it. Maybe tomorrow.
  • nod2007/05/03 21:03:53
I would not worry if they have arranged delivery - you will get it
I will PM the link - hold a sec
  • diider2007/05/03 21:23:25

I tried calling the toll free number and they said that it's been manufactured and in australia. but on the online tracking, it says that its still waiting to be built. DODGY!

These are automated systems. They are just out of sync. I am sure that they these screens have already been manufactured. They don't get built in a day.
  • sandgroper2007/05/03 22:51:48
Yes Dell dont actually build the monitors, they arrive at dell ready built and just need the correct power lead go go with them for whatever country they have been sold in.

Call dell this morning. Huge Back log, he said to disregard the tracking system and the monitors should arrive the earliest next Wednesday. Quite disappointed but at this price I don't think I am allowed to complain.
  • diider2007/05/04 11:54:33
I called them as well. And I "should" get them by next Friday!
    Grr, another week of waiting.
  • jayne2007/05/04 17:29:04
That's one of the worst parts when you spend so much money on a new gadget - the waiting game!!
  • nod2007/05/04 19:19:42
    Hey great to hear guys
I guess they had such a run on the monitors that they may have not had enough in stock. But good on Dell for honoring the deal.
Ah one more week..... but I am sure the wait will be worth it
    :)
  • ashley70702007/05/07 09:51:26
Called Dell this morning. They are out of stock on the monitor and they will only receive new stock on the 14th May and the earliest they will deliver it will be on the 16th May.

I wish Dell could have told us that at the time of order.
  • diider2007/05/07 14:53:37
I've just called them and they told me that I am definitely getting it by end of the week. I am in Melbourne, if that makes a difference at all?

I am in Melbourne as well. Whats your "Manufacturing build completed" date as specified by dell on their online tracking system? Mine is 1st May.
  • diider2007/05/07 15:02:13
    Hey there,

Mine was 1st of May as well. I called them up and they forwarded me to what I think is the delivery service department and she advised that it was because of the shortage of the monitors that I am only getting it last week. I called them last friday and it was the same reply that I will get them this week so fingers crossed.
  • nod2007/05/07 19:34:17
I suspect that Dell underestimated the number of monitors they required for this offer. They are probably needing to wait for a shipment form overseas.
But at least it sounds as if they will be delivered, just a bit later than expected.
    :)

DELL has been pushing the 22" LCD monitor for the past 2 weeks. In the Home & Small business section, 2 out of 3 models that include 20" will get a free upgrade to the 22".

It's pretty good value for money, $1160, The DELL 22" LCD is worth about $499 retail. Take that off the price $ 661 is the PC price

Specs for the DELL PC for $1160
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
    250GB Hard Drive
    2GB RAM
    128+128(PC RAM)MB NVIDIA Graphics Card
    DVD Writer
    DELL mouse & keyboard
    Windows XP PRO
2 Years Onsite - May not mean alot to some people but it's a worth while thing to have.

Just to prove a point, To built a computer from the local hardware store using the cheapest parts that I can find that is similar specs to the DELL PC. I am still looking at least $950. You have to spend an hour or so to build it yourself too.

    Product Quantity Price Gst Total
    Acer /Aopen/Benq Keyboard $17.00 $1.55 $17.00
Microsoft Windows XP PRO (OEM) $219.00 $19.91 $219.00
    UST/ViewSonic Deluxe Optical mouse $13.00 $1.18 $13.00
    Asus Extreme AX300SE/X Radeon X300 PCIE 128M $55.00 $5.00 $55.00
    2048M (2X1024Mb,2G Kit)PC3200 DDR RAM Kingston/Kingmax $289.00 $26.27 $289.00
    AMD Athlon™ 64 4200+AM2 Processor Retail Dual Core AM2 $149.00 $13.55 $149.00
    Seagate SATAII NCQ 250GB 7200RPM 16mb Cache $113.00 $10.27 $113.00
    Samsung 18xDVD -/+R/RW Dual Layer OEM Black $42.00 $3.82 $42.00
    Asus TM582 300NP Black U2 WO1394 80FAN1 Case $61.00 $5.55 $61.00
1 year local computer shop parts warranty
    Total $87.09 $958.00

All these pricing were obtained from UMART.com.au
  • ashley70702007/05/08 09:46:29
Thanks Vincent, thats indeed great value.
  • vincent2007/05/08 09:56:09
Considering that the DELL PC is made in Malaysia, All the shipping charges and delivery charges has been paid for, the PRICE of $661 is to your DOOR.

The Local computer store is pickup, If you have them deliver the parts to your door, It will be an extra $25 or $40 dollars. It will bump the price up to under $1000 to match the DELL pricing.
  • jayne2007/05/08 18:51:48
With the price Dell can produce these babies for, I really see no point building one yourself, unless you want something really specific. For basic home PCs, they are absolutely excellent. Got one last year for my big sis, and it's still going strong.

The only thing I would say, is never purchase the extra warranties, they are horribly over-priced...
  • nod2007/05/08 19:34:51
You should pop that up as a new deal Vincent - fantastic find. :D
  • diider2007/05/08 23:36:49
I got the extra warranty(5 yrs) for the bf as well. I just thought even if the extra $$ for the warranty, it is still cheaper than buying it at rrp with the normal warranty.

Also, I missed my delivery today. Had to re-schedule for Thursday instead. GRRR. It was also my birthday present to myself. :(
