Seems to come up as free delivery when I put one in my shopping cart and checkout...

It's cheap, but reviews are somewhat shocking....

I have 2 tablets (ipad & Samsung Galaxy) ...was thinking of getting one for mum to watch shows on (as she complains the ipad2 dad got her for her birthday midyear is too big to carry around, so dad is now hogging it - I reckon he bought it for himself!).

However, from the sounds of the reviews everything doesn't work too well.
But at least it is with Big W-should be able to return if it stuffs up within the 1st year =)

    **ETA**
Added that, most of the really bad reviews were from last year. Some of the ones earlier this year doesn't seem too bad.
I'm guessing that perhaps it is because it has been upgraded to Android 2.1?
Hopefully it is not too awful and I don't have to return it, as I decided to impulsively purchase it!

For $50, it is the cheapest tablet I have ever seen!
    Voted HOT! :D

Ordered one this morning for my nephew for Christmas. Figured it would be a good little toy for a kid.
Just got an e-mail to say it has left the warehouse. Pretty quick shipping considering it said it wasn't due to ship until after the 16th!

    Back in stock..

Anybody received theirs yet and tried it out?
  • queenshrew2011/12/20 10:01:03
I believe they are all the returns from angry customers..

I received one that was so shockingly scratched up and obviously used extensively and misused.. so I am returning it - and they made me pay postage to return!

To return it, took me over 1 hr waiting on the phone to get the info as their customer service NEVER answers to emails..

Waste of my life - and the hours I shall never get back.
    Avoid!

Well, I just purchased one so I don't know about the others that other people purchased - and it was definitely used! :(

The screen was all scratched up... The condition of which I liken to placing the dreambook face down on the road and kicking it around a few times...
The security seal of the box was not intact - Funny that it read - do not receive if Security seal is not intact (or something to that effect).

Even the charger cable was all messed up like it was wound up in a hurry.
I didnt even bother trying to charge it..put it back in the box feeling rather ripped off.

Also, the dreambook felt like light, cheap plastic...definitely not what dreams are made of..

I have a Samsung Tablet 7" P1000 and its build quality is worlds ahead! Also have an ipad and had an ipad2 briefly..and all I can say is that the Samsung build quality is on par with the ipad. This dreambook is rubbish, guess you really do get what you pay for (or even less in my case).

I read on another forum they also received used useless stock, that is shocking!

Big W is in a bad way at the moment as it is - https://www.facebook.com/#!/BIGWaustralia

I'm still waiting on Christmas presents with no money too spare

For what it's worth, shipping is extra.... so for me (Melbourne) it would be $57..... from queenshrews experience it sounds like a gamble but still not too bad *if* you actually got a device that was new (or near enough). Personally I use a cheap android tablet as a wall mounted controller for my lights etc.... and they can make decent wifi enabled photo frames that stream photos off the web/network (so show your latest photos without having to physically update them)....

I wouldn't compare them with the likes of an Apple or Samsung tablet.... but I would with the ones you get off sites like Dealextreme. You can now get Android 2.2 tablets for around the $70 mark, and ones with capacitive screens for just over $100.... just need to be careful as many use older/slower processors, battery life can be less than awesome, and they may not come with access to the Android market so loading 3rd party apps can be tricky.

This is disgusting behaviour and should not be allowed. I hope FT do something about this - definitely contact them if you received a used product, they act on systemic misconduct ie when it is happening to *enough* people to justify the cost.
