Big W - 18 Pack Softly Toilet paper $5.98

Posted By: craftykiwi, posted 2008/04/20 09:06
Softly Toilet Paper is available this week at Big W for $5.98.
18-pack. 3 ply.

I normally pay $2.20 now for a Home Brand 4 Pack and this works out at approx. $1.30 for a 4 Pack or approx. 33 cents a roll.

may be cheaper per roll but I noticed that not all rolls are equal, some have more sheets some have less. so cheaper per roll may be false economy.

Not saying that is true here, just something I noticed about toilet paper.

Now if you really want to get technical, you would have to take into consideration on how many uses you will get out of each roll. For example, if you have a roll that is 2 play and you use X sheets for each application and a 2nd roll that is 4 play and you use Y sheets for each application. You need to calculate what ends up being more economical.

haha, you have just gotten a glimpse of my mad mad world that I have to live in every day....

I must be mad too bigal as I always check that now too.

Noticed in the past that some of the rolls I bought on special never lasted as long as our usual ones so now double check how many sheets and thickness to make sure. Also don't like the way some just roll too easily so when the kids pull they get far more than they really need and we are changing rolls far too often. Will let you know what I think of these when I pick some up tomorrow.

    haha!!! But that's so true!!

I taught my hubby to check how many sheets were on a roll and size  he now knows that wondersoft is the best seller at his Woolies after having to refill it every shift.

    Just one question.....

Do you scrunch or fold??? :whistling:

Just bought a pack and yes there are less sheets per roll. Noticed that most of the 3 ply seem to only have about 160 sheets as in this case, whereas my normal 2 ply have 280 sheets.

So at the end of the day I worked out that I'd only save approx. 50 cents on my normal choice (homebrand), but buying in bulk saves a bit of time and they definitely seem like good quality for those that want them. And others that usually buy 3 ply or other well-known brands will save even more.

I guess it depends on what you like but since they are just getting flushed down the loo do you really need top of the range?

Not that I read that last word as something entirely different first time I looked at it.

I'd have thought weight would be the best indication of amount of paper ? A heavier roll should have greater weight irrespective of the ply.

Thats my logic as well. Its not as if its being used for anything important.

They had something at kmart today. I think it may have been called Go Softly, but it was about 10m away and I really wasn't interested. It was 18 for $3.99 or 32 for $6.99. I am sure it is crap toilet paper.
