Ta holdenmg. I have a morbid fear of how dirty I'd make a white Mac. I have a hard time keeping the brushed ally on the pro I use from looking like a slimebucket.

Bit more info on apple refurbs - they have a one year limited warranty and they can be anything from units that have simply been returned under the 30 day return policy apple has - ie they might have been looked at a couple of times and sent back or they can be replacement units. Given the price on this one I'd reckon it would have to be pretty untouched.

I'll give a good thumbs up to these little mac books - I've seen some of them take an abolute battering without blinking.

My MacBook is black (and it came that way).

Sometimes the refurb's even have a little more RAM than advertised or a larger HD, but this is a rare thing.

For the money, people can even extend this warranty towards the end of the 12 months for another 2 years with Applecare, and they don't have to buy it at time of purchase.

While we gain around $19 extra making the saving $54, personally I think there is not enough difference to switch me from a new unit.

In this case I don't think the Apple refurb store is reflecting a large enough discount for a secondhand unit. LOL this coming from a bargain hunter excited about a $10 saving in shipping fee's for a generic DVD player.

Guess my 3-4YO TI will have to keep plodding on a little longer....

IF it still works that is the main thing Ozpete.

Bargain hunter that has not progressed to compulsive shopper... yet ;)

In my experience you need to be careful with the Apple refurbs. As a rule of thumb I only look at the refurbs if they are more than 25% off the retail price (Apple list the % saving with each item)
The rest of Apple is.... expensive... the cashback does nto even dent the prices

yea - I usually shy away from those that dont have over 25% difference like Nod.

It'd depend on the average price of the new units. Its not that much of a discount compared to that myer deal. I cant find that many other prices on that model number to compare it against the average. Only ones I found were in the 1700 range and there was only a couple of them. But yea - agree with you ozpete. The thing that would swing it for me is it it was one of those been bought, looked at and returned units thats absolutely perfect and as good as new except that they cant sell it as such. If thats the case then its probably a good price. Dont ask me how you'd establish that before you bought it though.
