Hello Jatin, welcome to Buckscoop, and thanks for the hot deal post!
  • baz1232008/01/14 15:00:17
I can't find this on the officeworks site - the closest thing seems to be the microsoft wirelss desktop for $69.95 with $20 cashback :(
  • trevorf2008/01/14 15:17:46
It's the "Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 2000" which includes keyboard and mouse. RRP is 99.95AUD, so cashback offer is 25AUD. Officeworks advertised price appears to be 29.95 down from 39.95. So effectively 29.95-25=4.95.

Have to ask my gf if she got the cashback yet, but this would work out to be damn cheap.

it says in the cat that it's only $10 cashback making me think the model name is a misprint. Me thinks it's just the keyboard only - the Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 which is usually $39.95 and offers a $10 cashback.

  • trevorf2008/01/14 15:35:26
Mmm, probably ... guess that'd be more probable.

Image matches the MS Comfort Curve 2000 (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=040)

On the image, there's a lil cord too ... RRP 39.95 ... so their 10 cash back would be more accurate then.

I was on hold for half an hour! They confirmed it is the MS Comfort Curve 2000. It is wired and does not come with a mouse. They will not honour the catalog price for the wireless optical desktop 2000. I doubt anyone will price match the catalog either.

If anyone is interested, the cheapest place for the optical desktop 2000 (that I'm aware of) is MSY for $67.
  • samia7862008/01/14 18:40:17
I called up the Castle Hill store, talking to managers/etc, they will not honor the advertised price because they "have put up a sign on their shelf saying it was a misprint" and the actual price for the optical 2000 is $99.95.

Didnt realise the power of the Sign On The Shelf!!

Thanks for the deal posting .. it would have been a blinder if they had have honoured the price!

I got this keyboard/mouse from Officeworks in Clayton (Victoria) and they honored the price there today. Typing on the new keyboard now!!!
  • nod2008/01/14 19:55:38
    No way!
That is awesome Jatin. Especially since it appears that so many did not honour the price!
Did they have a lot in stock?... Buckscoopers may wish to storm the store :D
  • leny2008/01/14 20:34:16
Not sure how this works now. The catalogue states $10 cashback, but you can get $25? I haven't been able to load the microsoft page.

I'm absolutely jealous. I wish I knew someone in Victoria. I'd have them buy me 2.

My space bar keeps jamming :(

oooohhh my sympathies Maf101... I hate that when it happens..

Leny the cashback of $10 is for the Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 which is what they pictured in the catalogue but with the wrong name on it

Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 2000 has the $25 Microsoft cashback offer .. which is the name they used for the catalogue

Hope that is what you were wanting to know :)
  • jatin2008/01/14 22:10:36
Only 1 left in store after my purchase. My brother tried another store but they showed him the sign too!. Wonder if other retailers will match this price.

I just got back from Officeworks Vic Park WA and I can vouch this deal works.

I went there looking at printers and saw this deal in the catalouge, at first I thought it was mistake and asked the staff but they said if the catalouge says $29.95 then thats what they will honour. There was no sign up about there being any mistake.

Vic Park WA had a few left as well.

Also JB HiFi in Myaree WA have a great deal on the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 700 which I picked up for only $18 and I spoke to MS cashback hotline today and they said I would get a cashback of $15!!!

Get to the Myraee store quick as they only had 2 left.

Oh I'm off to OW tomorrow then
  • leny2008/01/15 00:39:26
I will be making my way to Officeworks very soon too. :D
  • admin2008/01/15 01:26:23
    awesome deal Jatin.
  • nod2008/01/15 09:40:21
Great to see that some of the OW are honouring the price :)
  • maf1012008/01/15 12:35:40
I tried a different Office Works in person. They refused. They didn't have the apology sign.

The Manager insisted the label on shelf has the $99.99 price therefore he doesn't need to honour it. I wasted about 20 minutes complaining before giving up and asking him to price match MSY. I paid $66 ($41 after cashback)

It's good to see some people are able to buy it at the catalog price.
  • MamaK2008/01/15 13:01:14
they had the sign at my local so I didn't even bother trying
  • mmmntl2008/01/15 15:36:33
can confirm that officeworks qv and elizabeth st in melbourne will NOT honour the price. oh well...
  • lum2008/01/15 17:37:59
today went to officeworks in ryde (the one on epping road) and just when i was about to try to get them to price match, some dude went ahead of me to some sorta old check out guy. After watching them argue for around 2 or 3 minutes, the buyer went back and got 2 more lol, so i went back to the same checkout person and without even saying anything he pricematched it for me. Funny thing is, I only realised after the first person got his keyboards that there IS a sign saying there's a mistake, etc. So quite lucky on my side.
    got 2 of them =D
  • tjgh2008/01/15 17:49:15
“Pricing error”. Correct price is $99.95 not $29.95. Deal no longer valid.
  • trevorf2008/01/15 18:15:09
... still can try your luck in anycase. :)

    :D - dead giveaway.
  • nod2008/01/15 20:51:15
I think if they have a sign up saying there was an error then it is very good of them to honour the price.

So Lum did you get them for $66 price match or the $4.95?
  • lum2008/01/16 00:44:40
i got them for the 29.95 and have sent off for the 2 x 25 dollar cash back, so if the letter doesn't get lost, should've scored them for 5 bucks each, which is about the same price as the 4 energizer batteries inside =D

currently typing on it, it;'s alright, but i think I'll stick with my microsoft comfort keyboard 4000, mainly got it for the wireless mouse for the lounge so when i use it with my tv i don't have to walk to it to change to next episode, lol (yes i'm lazy ehhe)
  • admin2008/01/16 11:42:34
    :D - good stuff lum.
  • leny2008/01/16 13:01:13
I tried getting it today, and they said that the PLU was different, or something like that. Simply, they wouldn't sell it to me for the "advertised" price.
Why is this offer labelled as Expired? As far as I'm concerned, the catalogue is current.
  • lum2008/01/16 20:02:05
thanks guys hehe, i think it's labelled as expired as most if not all officeworks won't be honouring that price anymore (with the ones that do being sold out)
  • leny2008/01/16 20:17:32
What about a label like: POSSIBLE:

    :D
